Hi Folks
Returning with information this time about our Wingham Hospital Hydro Therapy Rehab pool. 1993 seen the start of building the Rehabilitation Hydro Therapy Pool. The pools funding was a great community driven effort, supported by many organisations. Sporting Clubs,Community Groups,Individual Donations,Fundraising Efforts, even some Out of Towner group donations, Large and Small sums, every money value counted towards this great addition to the hospital. The target was $200,000 and there was a board put up outside the front of the hospital for the community to see the progress of funds raised. The whole community effort was astounding and I am told the government also gave a helpful donation, and in August 1994 the facility was opened. The pool started off with 300 patients and within 6 months had an increase of 814 patients. Today the pool still functions under The Allied Health team with a lot more community members, Outpatients and In hospital patients. The pool provides general classes run by Allied Health Assistants, Individual Support Sessions with physiotherapist and prescribed exercise sessions, serving for Rehabilitation purposes, you must have a referral from your GP to attend. The pool is one of the many reasons we fundraise to buy newly updated equipment when required for patient and staff welfare, maintaining the hospitals legacy of community support. The Wingham Hydro Therapy Pool remains a vital and cherished facility in the community.
