One year on from the floods, and for many people the memories still feel very close.
Today we are thinking of everyone in our community who was affected. The families who lost homes, businesses, belongings, animals, precious memories, and the sense of safety that flooding can take away in an instant. We are also thinking of the volunteers, emergency services, neighbours, friends and strangers who showed up when people needed them most.
Wingham and our surrounding communities showed incredible strength, kindness and resilience during such a difficult time. While life may look like it has moved on for some, we know the clean up and recovery may still be incomplete for others, and not everyone is “back to normal” yet.
Please know that people still care. We still remember. And we hope you are doing okay.
Take a moment this week to check in on someone, share a memory, lend a hand, or simply acknowledge how far so many people have come over the past year.
Sending love and strength to everyone affected from all of us xx
