Well, it’s less than 24 hours since I found out that the NDIS cuts bill was passed and I can actually feel that my heart has been shattered, while my eyes and mind are looking around my life that I have made for myself as being temporary, because everything I have fought for is likely to be torn away within the next two years.
Personally on a daily basis, this future will probably consist of literally having the choice whether to have support to go to university classes, visit my family or go grocery shopping, whether to have a shower or to eat a meal and whether to miss eating dinner or go to the toilet. That’ll be if I’m really lucky enough not to be kicked out of my home and forced into a group home, which I have the right to say doesn’t suit me.
Along with this new found terror, there’s a sense in Australia’s disability community today that we are truly seen as nothing to the rest of our country, even our federal government. As I heard the news last night a sickening thought cross my mind, how many of our country were happy, cheering and celebrating that the lives of their fellow human beings will be now uncertain and in danger of being lost. Being lost not only due to medical neglect, also being lost to unfortunately immense depression as we are now thinking, what will be the point of living if we are all going to go into a life where we are considered as literally nothing.

There is a large and incredibly strong army led by Hannah Divinity and Jordan Steele John, who has put every part of himself physically and mentally into fighting for us. These groups like the Protect Our NDIS Alliance can be found across Australia and will keep fighting for us to have our basic human rights met.
If you are the other way and completely support this decision, getting ready to comment on my perspective. I have to be honest and say although I don’t look like it, I am actually a 35 year old woman from western Sydney, I am nearly finished my second degree at university, so if you comment something assuming that I am ignorant or you can manipulate me to agree with you , I will argue with you and no, you can’t change my mind
In the next few weeks I will hopefully be going through the bill and trying to make sense of it for us all. In the meantime please take care of yourself and remember our fight isn’t over.
