Antarctica is Australia’s neighbour, and one of the last greatest wildernesses on earth. What happens there impacts us here.

Antarctica is under attack from super-trawlers extracting huge amounts of krill to be turned into supplements - and retailers like TerryWhite are profiting from it by stocking these products on their shelves. ❌

Krill is a vital food source for marine animals like whales, penguins and seals. There are plant-based, sustainable alternatives available for us, but not for marine life.

There is no excuse for this destruction to continue.

Time’s up TerryWhite. βœ‹No more Krill. πŸ›‘Stop killing Antarctica.

πŸ‘‰Help us urge TerryWhite to stop stocking krill products - link in bio.πŸ”—

Only weeks into the whale migration season and already a humpback whale has been entangled in a shark net off Broadbeach on the Gold Coast.

Rescuers from Sea World Foundation worked for four gruelling hours to disentangle and release the whale during the stressful and dangerous ordeal. Without post-release monitoring we cannot know whether this whale suffered injuries that may affect their survival - making it impossible to call this a successful release.

This is an avoidable tragedy that repeats itself year after year.

Every year, whales become entangled in shark nets. Every year, highly trained rescuers put themselves in harm's way to free large, distressed, and powerful animals. And every year, the Queensland Government refuses to remove a program that continues to harm marine life while failing to make ocean users safer - when better alternatives exist.

A struggling, entangled whale can also act as an attractant - drawing sharks closer to shore and creating an increased risk for swimmers and surfers.

Shark nets are not a solution. They are outdated, indiscriminate, and dangerous.

We will continue to shine a light on every entanglement until these useless and harmful nets are removed.

πŸ“’ Help us spread the word, share this post to help us raise awareness about the devastation these ineffective shark nets are causing.

Our second remote clean-up campaign for the year is officially underway! πŸ’ͺ🌊

After arriving in Arnhem Land, our crew were welcomed by Dhimurru Land and Sea Rangers and together we travelled to WaαΉ‰uwuy Beach in Cape Arnhem, one of Australia's most remote and beautiful coastlines.

As we first walked onto the beach the crew were excited to spot fresh turtle tracks weaving up the beach, but alongside the tracks lay countless pieces of plastic washed ashore by the current, creating dangerous obstacles for these nesting turtles. The contrast is striking: one of the world's oldest marine species nesting grounds and plastic waste. It shouldn't be this way.

Over the coming days our crew will work alongside the rangers to remove this marine debris, helping to protect this critical habitat for marine life.

Stay tuned as we share updates from the frontlines! 🌊🐒

Today is World Ocean Day. 🌊🌏

The ocean covers 70% of our planet. It sustains all life on Earth.
But right now, marine life is fighting to survive.

Poaching, Illegal fishing and plastic pollution all threatening their survival. Massive Krill supertrawlers stealing food directly from the mouths of whales, seals and penguins. πŸ’”

We rely on the ocean to survive but it needs our help. When we protect it, life recovers. Populations thrive, habitats are restored and species once on the edge of extinction are given a chance to survive.

This World Ocean Day, fight back with us. 🌊 πŸ’ͺ
Every donation is matched dollar for dollar - doubling your impact and keeping our ships and crew on the frontlines of conservation.β€¨πŸ‘‰Hit the link in bio to donate.

Meet Bosun James. βš“οΈ

As bosun, James helps keep the deck running smoothly day and night. From supervising operations and maintenance to leading the deck crew through demanding tasks at sea, his role is essential to every mission we carry out.

Life on board is not always easy. Long days, rough weather, and constant challenges are all part of the job. But for crew members like James, protecting the ocean makes every effort worth it. 🌊

Behind every successful campaign is a team of dedicated people working hard to defend, conserve, and protect marine life.

Our biggest haul of plastic polllution. Ever.

At the end of April we commenced our first remote clean-up campaign of the year, travelling to Mapoon in Northern Australia.

In a single day on Flinders Beach, our crew and the Mapoon Land and Sea Rangers removed nearly 3 tonnes of plastic from just 800 metres of coastline - the most ever cleared in one day on any of our remote clean-ups.

By the end of the week a staggering 12 tonnes had been cleared with an estimated total of 293,929 individual pieces removed, all by hand.

This is a place of deep cultural significance to the Tjungundji people, and a vital turtle nesting ground.
But plastic debris obstructs nesting sites, ghost nets can entangle turtles, and hatchlings must navigate piles of plastic just to reach the ocean. By clearing the beach before nesting season, the team gave marine turtles a meaningfully better chance of survival.

This was our fourth year working with the Mapoon Land and Sea Rangers and it was a true collaboration of passionate people working together, determined to restore this beautiful beach to the pristine state it should be and to make it safer for the turtles who nest here.

We thank the Mapoon Land and Sea Rangers for welcoming us back to Country, and to LUSH handmade cosmetics whose support made this clean-up possible.

Head to the link in comments to read the full article and stay tuned for more updates from our biggest clean-up yet.
