Willetton Community Garden Association Inc. The Willetton Community Garden is being established beside Rostrata PS in Willetton. New members and community involvement are always welcome.

Would you like to spend time gardening in a welcoming place with like-minded people, who share a love of growing delicious food and beautiful flowers? Do you like to garden but at the moment don’t have a backyard or a courtyard? Are you keen to learn from more experienced gardeners to try out new ideas in your home garden? There is enthusiastic support from community members, the school and the C

ity of Canning to develop a Community Garden located adjacent to Rostrata Primary School’s Kitchen Garden which was initiated in 2009. Rostrata Primary School P&C was one of eight organisations in WA awarded a grant in June 2014 to support development of a community garden. Community gardens may be communal / shared gardens, or allotment gardens - many gardens combine the two styles. If you are a community member or organisation this is a great opportunity to share in the planning and design of the garden in Willetton with the potential to grow vegetables, herbs, indigenous plants and an orchard and build great community connections. What a day of surprises! Our garden had lots of fallen branches to clear and while we wondered what to do with them we had two locals pop in...one with a donation of grass clippings and another with shredded paper! Both used in our compost. Thank you 😊
We also had a wheelbarrow left at our gate and a worm farm donated 😀 👍 The only donation we haven't got use for is the bolt cutters we found in the bushes 😉, if they're yours please come see us... After all that ( and tea n biscuits) we were offered help to remove the tree branches! 🌳

We celebrated our 11th anniversary with a lovely lunch at our garden...only to find we have had another theft of plants from the shadehouse....another hole cut in the rostrata school fence to gain access .That's a cost for the school to cover...again....
Our main source of income is from plant sales...we sell them cheap!! Would much prefer this person walks through the gates and pays for what they want..rather than costing the school for repeated repairs...if you see something please let us know . Thanks 🌻
