⚠️ GREY-HEADED FLYING FOX IN WHYALLA ⚠️

PLEASE SHARE THIS POST!

As some of you may know already, Grey-Headed Flying Fox have recently been migrating east and rapidly expanding their distribution in search of food and suitable habitat and were spotted in Port Augusta not too long ago.

Over the past month or so, I’ve seen a few reports that there are Grey-Headed Flying Foxes in Whyalla hanging around the Civic Park area and I can now confirm this to be true having seen one myself.

Chances are these guys are going to be here to stay so I thought this would be a good time to remind everyone that as cute as they are, to never approach bats in the wild as a small percentage of them can carry and transmit severe diseases and it’s better to not take the chance. Please observe these wonderful animals from a safe distance and make sure they feel welcomed! If you happen to come across a bat who appears sick or injured, keep your distance and instead contact professionals to come and remove the animal safely. Thank you all!
