BOM got it wrong (shock). Need I remind you all that we're Tasmanian and we're more resilient than the average bear. See you all at 9am in your running wellies

We've been keeping our eye on the BOM and in short there's going to be some rain in the morning. How much is anyone's guess but the bulk of it isn't hitting until 10am. We're a go for parkrun - bring something waterproof - I'll keep the briefing short and sweet. Hoping we're not crossing the 5km line like this ↓↓

Please note if travelling from the west to attend Westbury Town Common parkrun in the rain tomorrow. The road closure has been extended until 12pm Saturday.

🚧 UPDATE – Road Closure, Meander Valley Road, Exton 🚧

This post updates information provided in our 18 May 2026 road closure notice for Meander Valley Road, Exton.

πŸ“ What:
Roadworks on Meander Valley Road, Exton, will require a temporary full closure at the culvert construction site to allow excavation across the full width of the road and installation of new stormwater culverts.

As a result, there will be no through access via Exton during the closure period, and road users travelling through the area will need to follow signed detours. Local residents will still be able to access their properties from either side of the closure via designated detours.

πŸ“… When:
β€’ Initial construction activities are expected to commence on Wednesday 27 May 2026, with minor traffic disruptions expected initially.
β€’ A full 24-hour road closure will be in place from 6:00 am Thursday 4 June to 6:00 pm Friday 12 June 2026 (inclusive).

πŸ“ Location of the roadworks:
Roadworks will take place on Meander Valley Road between Station Lane and 3916 Meander Valley Road, Exton. A map showing the road closure area is included below πŸ‘‡

πŸš— Traffic impacts:
β€’ Signed detours will be in place.
β€’ Emergency services will access all properties at all times via designated detour routes.
β€’ Property access for residents will be maintained via signed detours.

πŸ‘₯ Who is impacted:
These works may affect local residents, school bus services, emergency services, public transport operators, freight and agricultural operators, and general road users. Please allow additional travel time and plan alternative travel arrangements.

πŸ› οΈ About the works:
The project involves installing reinforced concrete stormwater culverts to improve drainage.

Exton residents will receive a letter with further information, including a copy of the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)https://www.meander.tas.gov.au/assets/img/site/Projects-Infra/FAQs-PN-6482-MV-Rd-Exton_25May26.pdf

For more information, contact Council on (03) 6393 5300 or email [email protected].

We thank the community for their patience and understanding while these essential works are carried out.

What a beautiful morning for our first event of winter and our 200th parkrun at the Common. Equally beautiful were the 67 finishers, 8 volunteers, many others who came and our many barkrunners as well.
We had visitors from Hobart and Ballarat and welcomed 6 first time parkrunners. Great conditions resulted in 14 PB’s. πŸ…
A big thank you to our volunteers Sam, Lisa, Heather and 4 members of the Lions Club of Westbury - Paul, Andrew, Mary and Chris. πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘ Apologies to Sam for not recognising her 50 Volunteer Milestone. Thanks Sam, you are a legend.
We have a few vacancies in the roster over the next few weeks so please help if you can.
Hope to see you next week.
