Our first ISA Brown market day at Woombye Rural Supplies!

Very proud to see our beautiful hens go to their new homes and provide happiness and eggs for years to come.

Molasses Grass is flowering on the farm- delicious for Tilly!

Tilly, our Shetland Pony, has been happily grazing on the molasses grass flowers that are currently abundant across our paddocks.

This grass is often a sign of soil that is recovering and out of balance. Our farm was previously used for long-term pineapple production, which has influenced soil health and the types of plants that dominate.

Since taking over the farm, we’ve been trialling and planting a mix of grasses and legumes to slowly rebuild soil health and improve pasture balance over time.

Our young Isa Browns are getting close to heading out to their new homes from July 4th.

These girls have been raised here at Woombye Valley Farm in open, outdoor conditions and are well suited to backyard and free-range environments. They are healthy, vaccinated, well handled, and just about ready to start laying for their new families.

Our ISA Brown hens are so much more than egg layers (although they excel at that too).

They're also supreme tick hunters.

Every day they're busy scratching through hard-to-reach places, turning over organic matter, cycling nutrients back into the soil, and keeping our pastures healthy and active. They're nature's little cultivators.

Their eggs are excellent, but right now, it's their tick-removal that is earning all the praise.

The vision for Woombye Valley goes beyond farming.

We're working to promote and protect natural areas on our property through w**d control (least favorite job but very important), revegetation, and habitat improvement.

We believe productive farming and healthy ecosystems can work hand in hand.

We are stabilizing runoff channel banks with tough, locally grown, Lomandras to stop sediment loss and erosion, and to create a foundational habitat for local wildlife like bandicoots and wallabies.
