The Northern Centre

The Northern Centre The Northern Centre provides various free early intervention support services to at-risk families and individuals in the Northern Sydney area.

The Northern Centre (previously Ryde Family Services) provides a range of placed based, early intervention support services to vulnerable children, young people, families and adults of all ages who are experiencing a range of life stressors. Services provided are free and delivered by qualified staff and include counselling, case management, housing support, supported playgroup, domestic violence outreach service, parenting and skills development programs and support groups. The Northern Centre is involved in several integrated community hub models and operates projects throughout the year providing targeted support to identified cohorts. The Northern Centre is a public benevolent institution and an incorporated entity and is endorsed to access the tax concessions and is endorsed as a Deductable Gift Recipient. Its activities are regulated by relevant State and Commonwealth legislation, and the northern centre Constitution and is governed by an elected voluntary Board.

PROGRAM MANAGER SHS and SHLV ( 4 days 12-month contract (Parental Leave cover)

This role based at the TNC office in West Ryde will lead the Specialist Homelessness Service (SHS) Early Intervention and Staying Home Leaving Violence (SHLV) program teams to provide support and advocacy to people who are at risk of homelessness, to remain safely in their existing accommodation or secure alternative safe and sustainable accommodation and women with/without children leaving DFV to navigate a life away from DFV.

“A Little Connection Goes a Long Way” highlights how everyday moments of connection can support mental wellbeing. Connection can take many forms and can be done in ways that feel safe and comfortable for each person.

Mental Health Month is celebrated each year in the month of October in NSW. This month encourages all of us to think about our mental health and wellbeing, regardless of whether we may have a lived experience of mental illness or not. It also gives us the opportunity to understand the importance of good mental health in our everyday lives and encourages help seeking behaviours when needed.
