Vale Mingli McGlade... we are so sad at the passing of Aunty Mingli who will be laid to rest this week on her home Country. Aunty Mingli was a staunch campaigner for culture and Country. She stood side by side with communities in regionak WA who were faced with the threat of uranium mining and communities globally impacted by the toxic nuclear trade.

Here in Boorloo she fought for her Noongar community and Country for land rights, social justice and an end to deaths in custody. She has inspired generations of community and activists.

From Nuclear Free WA and our community we extend our deepest condolence’s to the McGlade family, especially her three children, and Pop Ben and all her family and those in the community who knew and loved her as we do.

We will miss you and will forever hold you close to our heart and be inspired by your beautiful fighting and caring spirit. Rest in Power 💕

SUNDAY NIGHT Luna Leederville 🎥🍿.... Come and check out this WA classic "Pursuit of Happiness" a glimpse at the powerful anti nuclear movement in WA in the 1980's as we brace for nuclear powered submarines in Cockburn Sound and all that comes with that - its a great time to reflect on the movement that had kept uranium in the ground, waste out of the ground and nuclear power banned - whats changed and what are the battles we need to brace for.

Vale Marcus McGuire

It is with great sadness that we mourn the loss of Marcus McGuire, who passed away on April 13th, 2026.

Marcus supported the Walkatjurra Walkabout - Walking for Country each year sharing his love for music and storytelling around the campfire, and cooking up big feeds for us all.

Over the many years we spent together fighting to protect Country from uranium mining, you were always willing to come and play for us at the fundraisers in Fremantle, or when we stayed in your home town, Kalgoorlie. Your family came, the Brownley Gospel Singers, and we were fortunate to be in town for Tjuma Pulka 96.3 FM Mathias Duplessy and Violins of the World concert. What great times!

We cherish the times we were privileged to be a part of his life, the lessons he taught us and the strength he gave us. We will carry him in our hearts forever. We will always keep the fire burning.

To his family, the McGuire & Brownley Families, your children and extended families, we cannot imagine the grief you are all feeling at this time of sorry. Please know that there are many around the world and this Country who are carrying a part of this sorry with you. We all send our heartfelt love to you and your families. He will never be forgotten.

Rest in Power.

Runit Dome is a prime example of No Safe Disposal of Radioactive Waste ☢️
The legacy of the Cold War nuclear testing, the Runit Dome continues to face significant dangerous risks due to rising sea levels & increasing storm intensity!
🚨The US covered a bunch of toxic nuclear waste in cement & now it’s cracking. This report documented the presence of the dangerous plutonium-239 that needs to be isolated from people & the environment for over 24,000 years!! Nearby communities rely on this area for food ~ any spread of radioactive contamination will have potentially devestating impacts on their food supplies & their environment.
Nuclear Free WA continues to oppose the controversial AUKUS on the very real risks to public health and safety & the environment should there be a radiation leak, nuclear accident & the disposal of nuclear waste. Stop AUKUS - WA

Cracks have appeared in a concrete dome holding 120,000 tonnes of contaminated soil and debris from Cold War-era nuclear bomb tests.
