2019 Federal Election Campagin
My Vote Matters is excited to announce our new 2019 Federal election campaign.
Recognising that there was a general lack of engagement by the Muslim community in the political process, and that Muslims could do a lot more to make their views and their voices heard, the Islamic Council of Victoria (ICV) launched the My Vote Matters initiative in 2018 with the Victorian State election campaign. My Vote Matters sought to educate Muslims about the importance of voting, encourage Muslims to enrol to vote, raise awareness of the issues that impacted them, and importantly, publish impartial research and information comparing the different policies of the parties and the views of politicians.
This Federal election the ICV has partnered with the Australian Federation of Islamic Councils (AFIC) to extend our work to all of Australia and encourage greater political engagement amongst Australian Muslims.
In the coming weeks we will be publishing our research on the policies of Australian politicians, as well as campaigning on the ground to educate Muslims on the importance of voting in Islam.
