Port Adelaide Rostrum held its Business Meeting on Tuesday 26th May 2026. Chaired by the Club President, Steve McClure, the program included reports from Club Committee members and a great speaking program that included speeches from Peter, Geoff, Margaret and Tony. Bob ran an interesting team building icebreaker and the evening concluded with some expert and useful feedback from the Club Coach, Di Hart.

Yet another great meeting at Port Adelaide Rostrum on Tuesday night!
Club members and visitors enjoyed a program of varied speaking tasks, including:
• An icebreaker (where members get to briefly respond to a topic, warm up their brain cells AND leave the rest of the world ‘outside’);
• prepared speeches; and
• some impromptu speaking- such a useful skill for our business and community lives.
Rostrum’s underpinning object is that it holds an educational ideal...a place where making mistakes is actually encouraged, and can be learned from – aided by specific feedback from a very supportive Rostrum-trained Coach.

It’s possibly true that in winter, the view of the Lake through our meeting room window is not quite as gorgeous as our cover photo depicts … but the meeting room is very warm and inviting, with ample parking.

The SA/NT Rostrum Zone President, Margaret Davidson, doesn’t just lead the zone with distinction. She also practices what she preaches and delivers outstanding speeches.
Last Tuesday (28/4/26) Margaret won the Port Adelaide Rostrum ‘Dolphin Award’ for delivering the best speech of the night.
You can see how much this meant to Margaret by looking at the photos attached…. we couldn’t wipe the smile off Margaret’s face‼️
An excellent meeting with several different speaking styles on display and well chaired by Charlie Reed.

What a great meeting at Port Adelaide Rostrum on Tuesday 24th February 2026‼️

Not only did this meeting attract two new visitors, it included a very interesting icebreaker conducted by Victoria-Rose Paris, inviting all attendees to identify with their favourite board game, and how it links to their personality.

We then heard a six minute prepared speech on the topic ‘generate’

Our Coach, Di Hart provided feedback on the meeting and awarded the Club’s Dolphin Award to all members and visitors in attendance.

The meeting also took the opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate Peter Perry’s 80th birthday.

Helen Bowen did a fantastic job in organising this celebration, supplying a unique cheese cake (pictured), and leading the Club in a toast to Peter’s milestone.

Another good meeting with some variety and significant learnings.

Cheekily, we are claiming this wonderful woman as ‘our own’! But of course she’s not; Sharon Harris is VERY much her own woman.
When Sharon joined Port Adelaide Rostrum she had a ‘big hairy goal’! Sharon was always focussed on making the most from her membership. It took a little time for Sharon to share her goal…Port Adelaide Rostrum is delighted to congratulate Sharon on her achievements to date and is looking forward to the next chapters in this exciting story!! 🙌🎉👏🏅

Well that’s a wrap for 2025!! A lovely get together at Semaphore beach to celebrate all we have achieved this year and to relax with excellent food, great company and a drink or two🍷

Congratulations to Bob Pearce who took out the Di Pepper award for best speech of the year 🏆

Now our attention turns to 2026 which will be here before we know it!!

Talk about a grilling 😊

Port Adelaide Rostrum witnessed a great interview conducted by Tanya Carwana, who was awarded the ‘Dolphin Award’ for her skillful, in depth exploration of Bob Pearce, his life, career and interests.

We all learnt a little more about Bob….

A great meeting with impromptu speeches, prepared speeches, fun and excitement.
