Montague Road Project

Montague Road Project If you live, work or play in the Montague precinct, have your say in the development of our community-led vision for Montague Road.

Start your creative community conversation with family, friends and colleagues today! This is a community-led engagement process to create a positive community vision for the future of Montague Road for presentation to all tiers of government. It will build ongoing community involvement in the Montague Road precinct and further the development and engagement in the arts. We are currently a partner

ship between Kurilpa Futures and Queensland Ballet. The project will connect residents along both sides of Montague Road from Queensland Ballet to Queensland Theatre. Montague Road is experiencing significant cultural and physical change, with ongoing growth of new residential buildings, the renovated Thomas Dixon centre opening in 2022 at the southern end and a new International Broadcasting Centre planned for 2032 at the northern end. In response to these developments, community members, Kurilpa Futures and Queensland Ballet have formed the Montague Road Project to initiate community-led participation in decision-making going forward. The State Government undertook a South Brisbane Transport and Mobility Study in 2019. Former Deputy Premier allocated $1M for a more detailed plan for Montague Road. With the Olympics ahead of us, those funds are now being transferred to Brisbane City Council to undertake that study. We invite all people who live, work or visit the Montague Road area including local businesses, community and sport organisations and special interest groups in the broader community to participate. We are seeking your Montague precinct-wide place-making ideas through community community pop-ups and an online survey in the lead up to a Community Forum on 11 September 2022. We hope everyone will get involved and especially people living in apartments along the river as well as those living on the other side along the length of Montague Road up to Hardgrave Road and northwards from there. So, please start having creative community conversations about our local area with family, friends and colleagues and check this page for updates.
