The Camillian Disaster Service (CADIS) Foundation is the humanitarian and development arm of the Order of the Ministers of the Infirm (Camillians), founded by St. Camillus de Lellis in 1591.
Mission: Promoting the development of community based integral health programs for the well-being of disaster stricken communities/ families through compassionate, competent and coordinated interventions.
How do we extend help?
We respond to the natural and non-natural disaster emergencies all over the world.
Our primary objective is to help the world’s poorest and vulnerable families, individuals and communities and lift themselves out from a catastrophic impact of disasters by accompanying them in this gradual process to full recovery.
We work with dioceses/parishes and partner organizations (local and international) worldwide to respond to the urgent and critical problems following our four program areas of concern: RELIEF, RECOVERY, RESILIENCY and RIGHTS.
RELIEF - Delivery and conduct of immediate relief services to survivors of natural and non-natural disasters by providing food and non-food items, supporting the medical, psycho-emotional and spiritual needs.
RECOVERY- Assists survivors to rebuild their families and communities by restoring and improving what has been lost and destroyed such as livelihood, shelter and community assets to sustain their basic needs.
RESILIENCY- Strengthening people’s capacities and improve their social condition that will enhance self-protection through trainings in disaster preparedness, basic health skills, psycho-social accompaniment, development of community cooperatives and, foster social cohesion in their community to protect them from adverse impact of disasters.
RIGHTS - We strive for an enduring impact and transformation to the lives of the vulnerable families and communities by nurturing their consciousness to the fundamental rights and obligations to protect the individual, community and our “common home”.
PRAYER FOR VICTIMS OF DISASTERS AND THOSE WHO HELP THEM
Merciful Father, you are our comfort and strength in times of disaster, crisis, or chaos.
Protect us with your grace. Strengthen your children with, faith, courage and peace at the onslaught of plagues, drought and famine, cyclones and flood, earthquakes, fire, and wars.
Receive in your kingdom the deceased due to disasters.
By your Spirit, lift up those who have fallen, sustain those who work to rescue or rebuild, and fill us with the hope of your new creation.
With St. Camillus we pray, through Jesus Christ our Merciful Lord.
AMEN.
