🚦 SOPMCA English Corner – Road Safety Week 🚦

This week at SOPMCA English Corner, we focused on National Road Safety Week 2026 and learned about important road safety knowledge in NSW!

Participants explored common NSW road signs and learned how to understand parking signs — including what all the symbols, arrows, days, and time limits actually mean 🚗🅿️

Many participants said they finally feel more confident reading parking signs in everyday life! Through practical conversations and interactive activities, everyone improved their English skills while also building confidence and awareness in the community 👏

Term2 English Corner is back! 🎉

It was so lovely to see both new and familiar faces come together again. This week, we explored what AI is and how it can help us in our daily lives. From asking simple questions to trying out translation and voice features, everyone had a go and learned something new.

Step by step, these sessions are helping seniors feel more comfortable with technology, building confidence and making everyday tools easier to use.

Looking forward to another great term of learning, sharing and connecting ❤️

What a special session at our English Corner this week!

A big thank you to Dr Patricia Clr Patricia Prociv, Councillor from the City of ParramattaParramatta City Council, for joining us to share Lunar New Year greetings and introduce how local government works.

In a relaxed and friendly environment, participants learned about the responsibilities of council — from community services and libraries to parks and local infrastructure.

Learning English while understanding how our local government functions makes the experience even more meaningful.

Next week, we’ll explore the role of the State Government. Stay tuned!

Who says learning English has to be boring? We brought the Lunar New Year straight into our English Corner! ✨

This session was full of festive vibes —
🐎 learning about the 12 Chinese zodiac animals
🎉 practising Lunar New Year greetings in English
🥟🍜🦞 chatting about what everyone enjoyed for their reunion dinner

Everyone wore red, introduced their zodiac sign in English, and enjoyed lucky candies 🍬
Laughter, culture, and language all came together — learning really is more fun when shared!

Wishing all our community friends a joyful Lunar New Year, good fortune, and a wonderful Year of the Horse! 🐎🎆

SOPMCA English Corner – New Term Begins

SOPMCA English Corner officially kicked off the new term today with a wonderful mix of returning learners and new participants.

The session focused on:
• Introducing ourselves in English
• Learning how to read train station PID information boards for everyday travel 🚆

With the support of our dedicated volunteer teachers, participants practised speaking confidently in a friendly and welcoming environment.

Community members are warmly welcome to register and enjoy one free trial session.

We look forward to seeing more friends join us this term!
