Regular health checks are an important part of looking after yourself and your family.

A health check can help monitor things like:

Blood pressure.

Blood sugar.

Heart health.

Medicines and existing health conditions.

You can also talk with our team about any changes you have noticed or concerns you have about your health.

Contact the clinic to ask whether you are due for a check-up.

A strong local health workforce is an important part of community-controlled health care.

Over time, Ngarnal Community Health aims to create more local employment, training and career opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

This includes supporting more Aboriginal Health Workers, building the skills of local staff and creating pathways into health careers.

The goal is to see more familiar faces in the clinic and strengthen the connection between care, culture and community.

Good healthcare does not happen in isolation.

Ngarnal Community Health is working closely with the Mornington Island Hospital, aged care, pharmacy, allied health providers and the wider Hospital and Health Service.

Our teams are holding daily discussions to make sure services are working together around the needs of each patient.

This integrated approach is helping us provide more connected care and greater continuity for the Mornington Island community.

Take a moment to check how much medicine you have left at home.

Please contact the clinic early if you need a new prescription or an appointment. This gives our team time to help before your medicine runs out.

When attending an appointment, bring your medicine packets or a current list showing:

What medicine you take.

How much you take.

When you take it.

Please speak with a doctor, nurse or pharmacist before stopping or changing your medicine.

Our team is taking the time to understand each person’s health, history and support needs.

Some appointments may take up to 90 minutes, particularly when a patient has complex health conditions or requires support from several services.

This means the clinic may be busier and wait times may sometimes be longer than expected. We appreciate your patience while we make sure each person receives careful, thorough and high-quality care.

Complex and urgent health needs will continue to be prioritised.
