Over several decades, the CSH has nurtured the vocational and life skills of thousands of people.

Challenge Southern Highlands (CSH) is a company limited by guarantee and a community-based charitable organisation which operates the Welby Garden Centre as an Australian Disability Enterprise (ADE). Challenge Southern Highlands Ltd (CSH) is a company limited by guarantee that was established in 1951 by local families with physically and/or intellectually disabled children. CSH has provided training in a caring environment and employment opportunities. This has led to greater levels of confidence, capability and independence. We operate the successful plant nursery, Welby Garden Centre, as a Supported Employment service and offer additional commercial services to local organisations. CSH also provides supported accommodation, both SIL and SDA, and also provides in-home supports. CSH supports individuals to access the community and supports individuals in a domestic setting.

We are seeking a passionate and community-minded Apprentice Horticulturist to join our team. In this role, you will not only learn the art and science of gardening but also make a tangible, positive difference in the lives of the people we support.
You will earn while you learn.
Position: Horticulture Apprentice (Full-Time)
Location: Southern Highlands NSW
Type: Full-Time Apprenticeship
Qualification: Certificate III in Horticulture

What a fantastic day out on the course for our Women’s Charity Day supporting the incredible team at as part of our annual Highlands Week of Golf! ⛳️✨

We had 57 players tee it up today in a fun, action-packed 3 Person Elimination Ambrose, and we saw some fantastic scoring across the board!

🏉 Rugby is for everyone.
We’re excited to see the Bowral Blacks Rugby Club exploring the launch of an All Abilities Rugby program right here in the Southern Highlands.

🎨 There’s nothing quite like seeing your own artwork hanging in a gallery.
Last week, some of our supported employees had the chance to visit the Incognito Art Show and see their incredible artworks on display. It was a proud moment for everyone involved, and one we’ll remember for a long time.
The Incognito Art Show is a unique exhibition where every artwork is displayed anonymously and sold for the same price, meaning buyers choose pieces based purely on what they love rather than the artist’s name or reputation. It’s a wonderful initiative that celebrates creativity, gives artists an equal platform, and raises funds to support Australian artists living with disability.
We’re so proud of everyone who submitted a piece this year. Having the confidence to share your creativity with the wider community is an achievement in itself, and seeing those works exhibited was something truly special.
A huge thank you also goes to our amazing support staff, whose encouragement, guidance and belief helped make this opportunity possible. Your support empowers people to explore new experiences, build confidence and celebrate their talents.
Congratulations to all of our artists – your creativity has inspired us all. 💚
