🐾💙 ADOPTION NEWS — DRIFTER HAS FOUND HIS FOREVER! 💙🐾

Our beautiful boy Drifter has officially found his forever home, and we couldn't be happier for him. 🏡❤️

From shelter life to trampoline adventures, big comfy beds, doggy friends and plenty of room to stretch those ridiculously big ears — it looks like Drifter has settled into his new life exactly where he belongs. 😂🐾

Seeing photos of him completely relaxed, belly-up and snoozing away is everything we could have hoped for. That is one very comfortable boy who clearly knows he's home. 🥹

To Drifter's wonderful new family, thank you for choosing adoption and giving our boy his happily ever after. Thank you for opening your home and your hearts to him and showing him just how wonderful life can be.

Drifter, your CAPS family will miss that gorgeous face, those magnificent ears and your cheeky personality, but nothing makes us happier than watching one of our dogs leave us for the very last time. 💙

No more waiting, Drifter.
No more wondering when your turn will come.
Your turn came. Your family found you.
You're home. 🏡🐾

Happy tails, beautiful boy. 💙

# # # 💛 MEET WILLOW — READY FOR HER FOREVER HOME 💛

Beautiful **Willow is now 9 months old**, and this sweet girl is more than ready to find the forever family she has been waiting for. 🐾

Since coming into CAPS care, Willow has absolutely **blossomed**. The shy young pup we first met has grown into a confident, happy and affectionate girl who greets the world with a wagging tail and that gorgeous smile. 💛

Willow has such a gentle, friendly nature and doesn't take long to win over everyone she meets.

🐶 **A little about Willow:**

✨ Friendly, affectionate and loves being around people
✨ Great with other dogs and always up for a play
✨ Easy-going and relaxed, taking most things in her stride
✨ Loves being close to her humans and will happily follow you around
✨ The perfect mix of **playful puppy and professional cuddle buddy**
✨ Still young and learning her manners, so she would benefit from continued guidance and positive training

Willow would make a wonderful addition to a family looking for a young dog who can be part of everyday life. Whether she's playing outside with her canine friends, heading off on an adventure or curling up beside you at the end of the day, Willow is happiest when she's included. ❤️

This beautiful girl has spent some of the most important months of her young life waiting for someone to choose her.

Now it's **Willow's turn.** 🥹💛

She has so much love, loyalty and happiness to give — she just needs a family to give it to.

🏡 **Willow is available for adoption through CAPS.**

If you think Willow could be the missing piece in your family, please get in touch to arrange a meet and greet.

🐾 **Please share Willow's post and help us find this beautiful girl the forever home she deserves.** 💛

🐾 BAMBI’S JOURNEY HAS JUST BEGUN 🐾

This week, we have been sharing some of our incredible before and after transformations — stories of dogs who arrived broken, frightened or unwell, and the journeys that followed.

But while we celebrate how far those dogs have come, behind the scenes another little girl has just begun a fight of her own.

Meet Bambi. 🤎

Bambi arrived into CAPS care from a remote community on Friday, 21 August, at approximately 7 weeks old.

For such a tiny puppy, Bambi had already been fighting harder than any baby should ever have to.

She arrived in extremely poor condition. Her little ribs were clearly visible, her dental development had been affected by severe malnutrition, and her tiny body was riddled with parasites. Her stomach had become so sensitive that she was unable to retain food, leaving her dehydrated and anaemic.

Yet somehow, Bambi held on.

She held on with every last little bit of strength and fight her body had left until she reached people who could help her.

Since Monday morning, Bambi has been in the care of our wonderful veterinary team, receiving the treatment, nutrition and support her little body desperately needed. She will have her final check this afternoon and, all going well, will finally be released to continue her recovery in foster care. 🏡

And despite everything she has endured in her very short life, Bambi is bright, happy and so ready to love.

She doesn't know that her start to life was unfair. She doesn't know how close her little body came to giving up.

She just knows that she feels better, her tummy is getting full, and there are people around her who love her. ❤️

Bambi's transformation hasn't happened yet.

Her before is happening right now.

Her journey has only just begun, and we are so incredibly grateful that this brave little girl held on long enough to reach our care.

One day, we hope to look back at these first photos of Bambi and share the beautiful after she fought so hard to reach.

For now, sweetheart, your only job is to heal, grow and discover just how good life can be. 🐾❤️

🐾 **FEATURE DOG #2 — SAMMI** 🐾

**From fighting for her life… to ready for her forever home. ❤️**

In May 2026, CAPS welcomed **Sammi** into our care after she was impounded in extremely poor condition.

She was severely underweight, but with proper nutrition, care and plenty of love, she slowly began to regain her strength. Not long after arriving, however, our team noticed abnormal bleeding and knew something wasn’t right.

An urgent visit to **Weipa Veterinary Service** revealed that Sammi was heavily pregnant with **five puppies** and appeared to be going into labour.

We prepared ourselves to welcome five tiny new lives into the CAPS family.

Sadly, that wasn’t to be.

Within 24 hours, Sammi’s condition deteriorated dramatically. She had suffered significant blood loss, was severely anaemic, battling a serious infection and had dangerously low platelet levels.

Sammi’s body had begun aborting her puppies in an attempt to save her own life.

We were faced with the heartbreaking reality that emergency surgery was Sammi’s only chance of survival — but in her condition, even surgery came with enormous risk.

With the incredible team at Weipa Veterinary Service, our volunteers and foster carers behind her, **Sammi fought.**

And she survived. ❤️

The weeks that followed were about healing.

Medical treatment. Good food. Rest. Foster care. Patience. And lots and lots of love.

Slowly, the fragile and desperately unwell girl who arrived in our care began to disappear.

Today, **Sammi is almost unrecognisable.**

She is healthy.
She is happy.
She has discovered the joy of toys.
She loves companionship and being around other dogs.
And underneath everything she endured, we discovered the most beautiful, gentle and affectionate soul.

Sammi’s transformation is exactly why we do what we do.

These changes don’t happen overnight. They take veterinary care, foster homes, volunteers, donations, time and an enormous amount of love.

**Without intervention, Sammi would not have survived.**

Instead, she was given a second chance.

Now there is just one final chapter missing from her story…

🏡 **A forever home of her very own.**

Sammi has already fought so hard for her future.

**Now we need someone to show her that all that fighting was worth it. ❤️**

If you think Sammi could be the missing piece in your family, please contact the CAPS page to find out more about meeting this beautiful girl.

🐾 **From survival to second chances — this is Sammi’s story.**

**✨ BEFORE & AFTER: RUE ✨**

Our first transformation feature is beautiful **Rue**. ❤️

Rue arrived into CAPS care in **August 2024**, after we were contacted by a remote community asking for assistance.

When Rue arrived on our doorstep, she was **skin and bone**. But her physical condition was only part of the story. Her faith in people had almost completely disappeared.

Rue was a fragile little soul. She was frightened of life, hesitant to trust and, at times, it felt like she had simply given up.

But we hadn’t given up on her.

With time, patience, consistency and an incredible amount of love from our team and foster carers, Rue slowly began to learn that she was safe.

Today, Rue’s story is one of **strength, resilience and the incredible difference love can make.**

Look at her now. 🥹❤️

Rue is happy.
Rue is trusting.
Rue plays.
Rue loves her walks on the beach.
Rue loves people, children and other dogs.
Most importantly, **Rue no longer lives in fear.**

She has been incredibly lucky to have the love and security of a wonderful foster home, but almost **two years have now passed** and Rue is still waiting for a permanent home to call her own.

She truly is a wonderful all-rounder and has so much love left to give.

Rue was given a second chance at life.

**Now we would love nothing more than to see someone give her the forever she has been waiting for. 🏡❤️**

From surviving… to thriving.

**This is Rue. This is why rescue matters.** 🐾

🐾 BEFORE & AFTER — THEIR STORY DOESN’T END WITH HOW THEY ARRIVED 🐾

As we know, life in animal rescue isn’t always easy.

Rescues are constantly overflowing, resources are stretched, and sadly, the welfare cases we see seem to be becoming increasingly difficult.

But through it all, we hold onto hope.

Hope that one day things will change. Hope that education, responsible ownership and stronger animal welfare initiatives will create a better future. And most importantly, hope for every animal that comes through our doors.

❤️ This week, we’ll be sharing several very special Before & Afters.

You’ll see how some of our dogs arrived in our care — and just how far they have come.

Some transformations took weeks.
Some took months.
Some have taken years.

There were medical battles, behavioural challenges, fear, uncertainty and plenty of setbacks along the way.

But we never gave up on them.

And somehow, despite everything they experienced before reaching us, they haven’t given up on people either.

That is perhaps the most incredible thing about dogs. For animals who have been so heavily let down by humans in the past, they can be remarkably forgiving. They are willing to trust again, love again and give people another chance. 🥹❤️

Many of the beautiful dogs we’ll feature this week are still waiting for their forever homes.

Their past may explain how they arrived, but it does not define where they go from here.

Their futures are looking brighter than ever.

Now they just need someone to be part of their after. 🐾🏡❤️

🐾 A WEEK OF HAPPY ENDINGS! 🐾

We’ve had some absolutely amazing adoptions finalised this week, and our hearts are very full. ❤️

All four of our beautiful kittens have successfully completed their adoption trials and are now officially part of their forever families. 🐱🏡

And joining them in her own happily-ever-after is our gorgeous Collie X girl, Billie, who has also officially found her forever home. 🐶💕

CAPS is so grateful to have been a part of each of their journeys. From the moment they came into our care, through foster homes, vet visits, meet and greets and adoption trials, it’s all been leading to this moment.

To their wonderful new families — thank you for choosing to adopt and giving a rescue animal their forever.

We wish Billie and our four little kittens a lifetime filled with love, adventures and plenty of spoiling. 🐾❤️

Happy tails, little ones — your next chapter starts now! 🏡✨
