Waverley Old Boys Football Club

Waverley Old Boys Football Club Sydney based amateur football club. Member of Eastern Suburbs Football Association. The Founders,

Mark Ambour
Michael Kavourakis

It was a dream of two ambitious old boys from Waverley College that has now seen the formation of the most prestigious social club of the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney, the Waverley Old Boys Football Club. The founders, Mark Ambour and Michael Kavourakis formed the club back in 2001 with the dream of forming a social club, which has now become one of the most popular social clubs of its kind. It made

sense, let's form a prestigious social club for the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney. The Eastern Suburbs of Sydney has not seen a club of this kind grow in stature over such a short period of time. The management of the club since its humble beginnings has seen hard line marketing and efficiencies, which have brought the club where its stands today. With immediate exposure to over 6,000 people, the club has grown in leaps and bounds over the years. Finally, the overwhelming support and sponsorship that the club receives from prestigious local businesses and support networks is phenomenal and we at the club are firm believers that to be part of this prestigious club is something that comes as a privilege, not a right.

A huge team performance from the boys today, coming away with a deserved 3-1 victory over a quality Glebe Gorillas side.

Despite conceding inside the opening 10 minutes, the boys never dropped their heads. They stayed composed, trusted each other, and stuck to the game plan. The response came through a brilliant delivery from Liam, who picked out the flying Jordan at the back post. Jordan rose highest to power home a header and level the scores at 1-1.

The momentum stayed with Waverley, and not long after, Owen showed great determination to battle past his defender before calmly finishing one-on-one with the goalkeeper to give us a 2-1 lead.

Before the break, Owen struck again. After putting the defenders under pressure, a fortunate deflection fell kindly into his path, and he made no mistake to extend the lead to 3-1 heading into half-time.

The second half was a true test of character. Glebe Gorillas came out firing, creating a number of dangerous chances, but our back four stood tall. The defensive unit showed resilience, toughness, and commitment, winning their individual battles and keeping a second-half clean sheet to see out a well-earned victory.

That’s now three consecutive league wins for the boys, who climb into 2nd place on the ladder as they continue the chase of the high-flying Randwick side.

An outstanding effort from every single player today. The hard work continues. πŸ’™πŸ’›βš½

FT: WOBs Ressies 2-0 Randwick Ressies.

Our Reserve grade squad make it 4 wins on the bounce to climb closer to the top of the table.

With squad numbers low due to players injured/away, the lads battled hard for one another and showed a togetherness which started from reserve keeper Andreas Fragias filling in on gaffer duties.

There could be a man of the match case made for every player today, as everyone stepped up in a big way. But the Aquamore Finance man of the match goes to Francesco Scoto. After playing 90 mins for the over 35s last night, Franny somehow still had enough in the tank to play 90 mins today and boss the midfield. Class is permanent πŸ’ͺ 🍷.

Next up: Quick turnaround as the boys play Coogee Prems in the Esfa cup on Monday night.

Our Reserve Grade side made it three on the bounce with a 3-0 win over .gorillas in what was an eventful game to say the least.

The WOBs took an early lead with expertly chipping the keeper from distance.
The game then hung in the balance until deep into the second half when picked up the ball, beat his man and fired one in from outside the box.
With Glebe then chasing the game the WOBs then hit them on the counter with making it 3-0 and truly putting the game to bed.
