On Sunday 8th of March, hosted by Seikukan Karate Dojo Wavell Heights, the World Karate Federations in combination with Karate Australia held an instructor training program for the Guardian Girls initiative.

Twenty very dedicated karateka Black Belts from throughout Queensland (Gold Coast, Brisbane, Toowoomba, Sunshine Coast, Gympie and Cairns ) and northern New South Wales (Lismore). Led and inspired by Liz Mahler the National Program Director of Guardian Girls Karate Australia, the group were taken through the key Guardian Girls curriculum highlighting the very best of what karate stands for - strength, respect, and community, whilst also giving women and girls the tools to protect themselves, building confidence, resilience, and connection.

What a week it’s been! Congratulations to all our recent gradees and what better way to end the year than with the amazing black belt grading on the weekend.

It takes extraordinary dedication and years of commitment in training to reach this level of achievement, so congratulations to Tristan, Mark, Matilda and Shannon for their new black belts and to Nina and Angus for achieving their Nidan belts!

And thankyou to the amazing knowledge and support of our dedicated Senseis that helped them get there.
