🎉🎂Happy 4th Birthday to Tender Funerals Mid North Coast!🎉

Today marks four years since Tender Funerals Mid North Coast opened its doors.
When we look back at where we started, it is hard not to feel incredibly proud of how far we have come. What began as a small community-led idea has grown into a busy, trusted, and deeply needed local service supporting families across the Mid North Coast.

Over the past four years, we have grown our team, welcomed volunteers, renovated and expanded our space, built new partnerships, opened conversations in the community, supported over 700 families, and continued to prove that funerals can be affordable, meaningful, personal, and grounded in care.

Tender has never just been about providing funeral services. It has always been about people. It is about making sure families have choices. It is about ensuring no one feels pressured, rushed, or left behind. It is about creating space for people to care for their person in ways that feel right for them.

We are so grateful to every family who has trusted us, every volunteer who has given their time, every community member who has supported us, and every person who has believed in what Tender could become.

Four years on, we are still learning, still growing, and still committed to doing death care differently.

Happy Birthday, Tender. What a journey it has been.

Celebrating the life of Eileen King.

Much loved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

A celebration of Eileen’s life will be held at Innes Gardens Memorial Park – 21 Philip Charley Drive, Port Macquarie, on Friday 5th June 2026 at 10am. With a morning tea to follow at Westport Bowling Club.

Part of the inspiration for our Memorial Cookbook came from Penny’s Armenian Nutmeg Cake.

Penny’s family spent days lovingly planning and painting her spectacular coffin, filling it with details that reflected her life, personality, and the things she loved most. Included among the artwork was a beautiful painting of her Armenian Nutmeg Cake alongside the full recipe, a tribute so thoughtful, personal, and full of love.

Later, Penny’s husband Greg kindly brought the cake into Tender for the team to try, and it absolutely deserved the special acknowledgement it was given. We’re already planning to bake it ourselves, and each time we do, we know we’ll think of Penny, Greg, and their family.

Food carries stories, memories, love, and connection. When recipes are shared and passed on, the memories connected to the people who made them continue too.

We would love to include a recipe in honour of your person in our Memorial Cookbook. If you have a story, memory, or photo to go alongside it, we would be honoured to receive that too.

National Volunteer week (18 to 24 May 2026.)

This week, we celebrate and acknowledge all the volunteers who make Tender what it is. We simply wouldn’t be here without you.

It was volunteers who came together to make Tender Mid North Coast a reality. It is volunteers who help continue to grow our beautiful garden and ceremony space for families to use in their way. It’s our volunteers who support our committed staff to provide meaningful and personalised care.

We are so grateful to all of you from the beginning of Tender, to our current volunteers and all those to come.
