We're still working our way through Kerryn's six lessons over six decades, and here is number four! "Things once overlooked can become treasures." In the late 90s, the schools for deaf and blind students became a highlight of Asian Aid’s work; children who were once overlooked now had opportunities to truly shine and thrive.

It's been a week since we first started to hear of the disaster in Nepal. Since then, we've been receiving communications from our partners in country and have relayed information as it's become available.

Today was the first day of Spring here in Australia, and for many on our team that brings with it a feeling of HOPE. Lesson Two from Kerryn's "Six Decades. Six Lessons"

Asian Aid launched programs to support women, including mums of sponsored children. In Bangladesh, the Pollywog embroidery project created opportunities for these women to earn an income. Tailor training in Rajamundry and other locations gave women practical skills, resources, and confidence to support their families. In Nepal, literacy programs and women’s health clinics, including programs for women suffering from uterine prolapse, met urgent needs and helped restore dignity.

Kids in action! Members of a child club recognised the opportunity for their community in Bangladesh when a free health camp was organised. They visited homes, invited families, and encouraged people from across the community to attend. The child club's actions led to many children and families accessing vital healthcare, and even went beyond this.
