At Coolamon Arts Hub, culture, creativity and community come together.

A Kinchela Boys Home Aboriginal Corporation initiative, the Hub supports emerging, mid-career and established Aboriginal artists from the KBH family and Stolen Generations community to create, share, exhibit and sell authentic Aboriginal art.

It’s a culturally safe space where Survivor voices are celebrated, stories are shared through truth-telling, and art creates pathways to connection, recognition and economic wellbeing.
Call to Action:

Discover the artists, explore their stories and artwork, and join us in celebrating culture, creativity and community through Coolamon Arts Hub.

Join us for a series of 7 weekly creative workshops designed and facilitated by Muruwari artist, Virginia Keft (living on Dharawal Country, Wollongong, NSW)

This program is specifically for Survivors and Descendants of the KBH

We’re excited to invite Kinchela Boys Home (KBH) Survivors and Descendants to join our upcoming Western Sydney art program, with workshops starting in just a few weeks.

The workshops will be held in the Mt Druitt Hub Community Rooms.

You don’t need to have any art experience, Virginia will introduce a range of art experiences for you to try, and all the materials are provided. Each day will include yarning, guidance, and support by KBHAC Survivor artists and Elders.

Workshop dates: Every Thursday from 29 October until Thursday 10 December 2026.

Time: 10.00 am to 2.00pm

What to expect:

· hands-on art skills and creative practice
· time to work on individual and shared artworks
· yarning circles, connection and gathering
· support and guidance from KBH Survivor artists
· refreshments and a light lunch at every workshop

Whether you already make art or would like to try something new, you’re welcome to join in. This will be a culturally safe space to create, yarn, connect and spend time together.

At the end of the workshops, you’ll have the opportunity to display the artworks you create at two exhibitions planned for February and May 2027.

Through Coolamon Arts Hub, you’ll also be able to offer your artwork for sale at the exhibitions and through the Coolamon Arts Hub website.

Next month Kinchela Boys Home Aboriginal Corporation will be supporting and promoting the 16 Days of Activism to stop the violence against women and children

Violence against women and children is not inevitable.

A future free from violence is possible through sustained action to address the drivers of violence, strengthen support for victim-survivors and improve accountability for people who use violence.

This year's 16 Days of Activism theme is ‘UNiTE to End Violence Against Women and Girls: Ensure justice, protect survivors, end impunity.’

It highlights the importance of justice, safety and accountability in ending gender-based violence.

The campaign is an opportunity to reaffirm our collective commitment to a future where women and children can live free from violence.

Join us in building a safer and more respectful Australia.

Support is available at 1800RESPECT 1800 737 732

This is a 24-hour national sexual assault, family and domestic violence counselling line for any Australian who has experienced, or is at risk of, family and domestic violence and/or sexual assault.

KBHAC’s Coolamon Arts Hub exhibition, Truth-Telling: Our Past, Present and Future, is on its way to Paddington for the next two months

Showcasing some deadly artworks by KBH Survivors like Uncle Richard P Campbell (see bio below), Truth-Telling: Our Past, Present and Future features works that share the Uncles experiences of KBH, the legacies it has left on their lives and the journey of reuniting and healing.

The exhibition also features Noongar and Spinifex visual storyteller Tace Steven's photographic collaboration with the KBH Survivors titled 'We Were Just Little Boys'.

Bio : Uncle Richard Campbell: Acrylic on Canvas

A Stolen Generations Survivor, Richard was born in Bowraville in 1958. His mother was a Gumbaynggirr woman, and his father from the Dunghutti tribe.

Richard spent his early years living with his parents and four siblings (one older brother and three younger sisters) at Bowraville Aboriginal Mission.

It was there Richard was introduced to art making by his father who would carve and burn images on to boomerangs, shields and spears which he would sell for food for the family.

But in 1966 Richard and his four siblings were kidnapped from the family and Richard and his older brother were taken to Kinchela Boys Home near Kempsey.
