🌱Science, agriculture, curiosity… and some VERY cute animals!

We had such a fantastic day last week at the 2026 DPI Hermitage Schools Science Competition Awards Day & Ag Science Expo! 🌾🧪

This year marked an incredible 30 years of the competition - congratulations to everyone involved in creating such a wonderful event, and a huge congratulations to all the students who participated and received awards! 👏🎉

A highlight of the day was hearing Costa Georgiadis (Costa Georgiadis Official) inspire the next generation to stay curious, say YES to opportunities and see where they might lead. 💡🌱 We were also pretty excited to meet Costa and have the chance to tell him all about CUC Southern Downs and how we're supporting regional students to pursue their own education and career opportunities. 🧡

We were so proud to see a few of our PhD students in their element out in the wild! Amazing to see where they are conducting their research first hand! CUC students kicking major goals and contributing to agricultural science research in our region 🌿🌾

And then there were the animals… 🐑🐷🥹

Let's just say Alyce had to be thoroughly frisked on the way out to make sure a baby lamb or piglet hadn't somehow found its way into her bag. 😂

A brilliant day celebrating science, agriculture, education and the next generation of curious minds. 🌾🔬🎓

Wow what a fabulous day out at the 2026 DPI Hermitage Awards Day and Ag Science Expo!!

Congratulations to all of the award winners - the future of Ag is definitely in good hands! A huge thank you and shout out to our awesome Bachelor of Science student Mac who helped us on the day!

How very proud we are of all of our students - achieving incredible things while studying close to home with us at CUC Southern Downs!

WE’VE HIT 200+ STUDENTS!

Just over one year since we opened our doors, we have officially welcomed 206 students to CUC Southern Downs!

We are incredibly proud of what our little Centre has become, and even prouder of the amazing students who make it what it is.

206 students. One incredible first year. And we’re only just getting started!
