Happy Queensland Day! 🌟
On 6 June 1859, Queen Victoria signed the Letters Patent that gave birth to our great state - and Queensland hasn't looked back since. Today we celebrate 167 years of the bold, the resilient, and the community-minded people who make this place extraordinary.
At QCWA, we're proud to be part of that story. For over a century, our members have been the quiet backbone of Queensland - running hall committees in tiny outback towns, delivering meals after floods, hosting youth groups in regional centres, and making sure no woman in rural Queensland ever feels alone. That's the Queensland spirit, and it lives in every one of our branches.
Here's to the Sunshine State, and to the incredible women who keep it shining. 🌺

With sadness I advise that Barbara Weier has passed away. She was a former member of Allora Branch and was Olive Shooter's sister. She was a very talented dressmaker and won many prizes for her sewing skills in the sewing competitions. She was also a prize winning photographer. But above all, she was a lovely person and will be missed.
