Meet Acacia oswaldii. While I call them "curly wurlies" for their twisted pods, they are officially known as the Umbrella Wattle. As one of the last Mallee wattles to ripen, they mark the end of the peak seed season, allowing us to finally slow down and focus on the other species that hold their seed longer.

Our late nights in the greenhouse cleaning seed, moving them on, and bringing new seed in, made that much better with a SHOW of Aurora Australis! Took my breath away.

We spent the night nervously cleaning our seed, and loading whatever we could into the trailers. None of us wanted to lose a season’s hard work to a bushfire if the catastrophic fire danger forecast came true.

Never realised how beautiful the greenhouse looks at night when illuminated from inside.

Yup, there are three seed collectors within Wilder West Victoria. One of them constantly misidentifies plants and needs to check the guide but also cannot read. Luckily, he's pretty cute.
