A few dads came out on Father's Day and planted seedlings near the Wellington Street bridge. Special thanks to Warrnambool Central Rotary members. We got plenty of "thanks for what you're doing" from passers by. And (unphotographed) some came back and helped us out. A successful morning!

Little penguins are flightless and return at night to the same burrow, making it easier to capture and vaccinate them.

Warrnambool and Moyne local government areas are part of South West Victoria’s landscape, mostly cleared for agricultural activity that provides a major proportion of our economic activity. A vital offset is restoring native vegetation, essential for biodiversity/natural capital, stock shade and shelter and wildlife corridors to name but a few benefits. Likewise, sustainable agricultural practices go some way to building landscape resilience, critical in an area where farmers account for more than 80% of land management. This week is Landcare week so let’s celebrate the efforts of Landcare volunteers and others seeking to improve the integrity of our landscape.

We're a network that supports a number of other groups. One is the relaunch of Warrnambool W**d Warriors who are going to eradicate invasive shrubs and trees in our coastal reserves. Bruce Campbell stepped in on their behalf at last night's ceremony. Al Danger collected WCLN's grant to conduct eDNA surveying in our wetlands and rivers. This is a cool scientific method that tells you about all the creatures that live in a particular stretch of water. Another good year ahead.

We had an enjoyable time with Merrivale Primary School and Warrnambool College students and teachers planting seedlings in Albert Park this morning. Thanks also to Kristy and the crew from Warrnambool City Council…there were plenty of worms and significant moisture beneath the mulch which should help with plant survival.
