Australian Army Cadets has received the new design for the Corps Badge, aligning the crown with the monarch, His Majesty, King Charles III.

This change is in line with Defence’s conversion program beginning on the 1 August 2025, and replaces the previous Corps Badge, which wore the St Edwards Crown – the symbol of the Queen, to the Tudor Crown - the recognised symbol of the King.

Commander of the Australian Army Cadets, Brigadier David McCammon DSM and Bar said the adoption of the new Corps Badge is a significant milestone.

“Since the coronation of His Majesty, King Charles III, institutions have undergone a gradual transition of symbols in line with his Majesty’s wishes,” Brigadier McCammon said.

“We had recently transitioned from the old Corps Badge replacing the Rising Sun with the St Edwards Crown – an amendment that was approved in the last days of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II’s reign.

“This revised Corps Badge with the Queen’s Crown was released during
the transition period in honour of Her Majesty and will now be retired till the next reigning Queen.”

The new King’s variant will be rolled out across the Australian Army Cadets, beginning with official correspondence and social media through to hat badges and other uniform accoutrements.

We’ve got exciting news to share! As of today, all Australian Navy Cadets and Australian Army Cadet Units are officially invited to offer the Duke of Ed Framework following the signing of a joint National Licence Agreement.

Cadets know that learning doesn’t just happen in a classroom. The powerful life skills they develop through service, adventure and leadership can be recognised through the Duke of Ed Framework.

As the most recognised Framework for organising and accrediting non-formal education and learning, the Duke of Ed will help cadets gain formal recognition of their hard work, dedication, and personal growth.
