Warracknabeal Creative Circuit

Warracknabeal Creative Circuit A community makerspace for regional Victoria that fuses low-cost technology and craft.

156 Scott St We also welcomed more than 1177 visitors through our doors!

The Warracknabeal Creative Circuit was a 12-month pilot project running 2021-2022 with funding from Creative Victoria, Monash University's Art, Design & Architecture faculty, Working Heritage & Yarriambiack Shire. The project ran all-ages makerspace that provided community access to low-cost tools (including 3D printers, robotics, cutting machines, audiovisual equipment, and drawing supplies), cre

ative expertise, and a free-of-charge working space to make, play and imagine Warracknabeal with others. From April 2021 till June 2022, we hosted 15 commmunity-led events and 24 creative workshops, which merged technology and local arts, craft, design, and stories. The Warracknabeal Creative Circuit explored, tested, and refined the needs of the community *with* the community to create a makerspace for local use. This included significant material re-use in craft and fabrication, collaborative projects with existing knowledges, and playing with new technologies in Warracknabeal and beyond. Together, this helped us build local capacity for creative space management – and embed community learning through making. As the pilot project has now finished, we are now redistributing our equipment, materials, and lessons free amongst council facilities, volunteer organisations and other local groups across Yarriambiack Shire, and look forward to more community-led creativity to come as a result!
