Happy Pride !

Pride Month is a time to celebrate the diversity, courage and achievements of LGBTQIA+ communities, while recognising the importance of creating a world where everyone feels accepted and respected.

"At Illawarra Women's Health Centre, we are proud to support diversity and inclusion and foster a community where everyone feels welcome, respected and valued."

This month, and every month, we stand for equality, and the right for everyone to live as their authentic selves.

Because everyone deserves to feel seen, valued and connected.

Happy Pride from the team at Illawarra Women's Health Centre.

On Monday, the team attended the Multicultural Pathways Expo at TAFE NSW Wollongong.

It was wonderful to connect with so many people from refugee and migrant backgrounds, as well as the organisations and services supporting them throughout the Illawarra.

Events like these are a great opportunity to share information about the programs and supports available at the Centre, while building stronger connections within our diverse community.

A big thank you to TAFE NSW and all the organisers for bringing together such a valuable event. We enjoyed meeting everyone who stopped by our stall and look forward to continuing these important conversations.

Thank You Uniting NDIS Local Area Coordination for providing your service to our northern site. We look forward to welcoming you to our new space!

Uniting Local Area Coordinators Samantha, Michelle, Ajah and Jessie enjoyed a wonderful morning tea last month connecting with Bonnie from the Illawarra Women's Health Centre, celebrating the opening of their Northern Site group and training room.

This new dedicated space is a fantastic addition to the local community, creating opportunities to deliver a wide range of supports - from early intervention and health education, through to therapeutic and peer group programs. It's also a welcoming place for partner services to collaborate and strengthen local supports.

Our LACs are now available monthly at the site, offering 1:1 conversations and opportunities for group sessions with providers and clients.

Find us on the first Thursday of every month at both Women’s Health Centre Illawarra locations:

📍 Northern Site
University of Wollongong Innovation Campus, Level 1
Squires Way, North Wollongong
10:00am – 12:00pm

📍 Warilla Site
Illawarra Women’s Health Centre
2/10 Belfast Avenue, Warilla NSW
1:00pm – 3:00pm

Appointments are essential. To book, please contact the Women’s Health Centre on (02) 4255 6800.

It’s heartwarming to see strong partnerships forming that support women and contribute to a more connected, informed and supported community.

AusAlert National Test – Monday 27 July

At 2:00pm AEST on Monday 27 July 2026, the Australian Government will conduct a national test of the AusAlert emergency warning system.

During the test, compatible mobile phones across Australia may receive a test emergency alert message and notification sound. This is only a test, no action is required.

If you are concerned about receiving the alert, particularly if your phone use is monitored or if you are experiencing domestic and family violence, it may be helpful to plan ahead and be aware that the alert will occur at this time.

The national test helps ensure Australia’s emergency warning system is ready to provide critical information during emergencies and disasters.

Monday 27 July 2026
2:00pm AEST

For more information about the AusAlert national test, visit the Australian Government website.
