A bit different for us in 2025 as we haven’t yet entered our bush fire danger period.

While you don’t need a fire permit just yet in our district, if you’re planning a burn on your property, be sure to check the info on the RFS website : https://www.rfs.nsw.gov.au

Today, six Local Government Areas (LGA) commence their Bush Fire Danger Period.

Residents and land holders should ensure they understand the rules around the use of fire. Along with required fire permits, you must also notify your local fire authority and neighbours of your intent to burn at least 24 hours in advance.

Know the risks for your area, have a bush fire survival plan and know what you'll do if threatened by fire. For more information, visit to the website: https://brnw.ch/21wVlGS

This may impact our community, so please prepare and stay safe. Any rain will not be soaking in.

The Bureau of Meteorology is forecasting heavy rainfall and damaging winds for parts of the east coast throughout the weekend and into next week. At the request of the NSW SES, the is pre-positioning aircraft and aviation rescue crews in the Hunter and Mid-Coast regions.

The heavy rain could cause flooding, so a reminder to never attempt to drive through floodwaters - if it's flooded, forget it.

You can stay up to date with the latest flood and storm information from the NSW SES. For road closure and traffic information visit Live Traffic NSW.

If you require assistance with flood or storm damage contact the NSW SES on 132 500. In a life-threatening emergency call Triple Zero (000).
