The Chinese Association Of Victoria have been an integral part of Knox for so many years now and the place wouldn’t be the same without them.

So it was wonderful to catch up with Shirley and Dominic from the team to talk about the work they do locally in supporting and nourishing Chinese culture and sharing it with everyone.

Was also great to see a number of projects delivered by the team thanks to support from the State Labor Government!

🎉 CAV Lunar New Year Celebration 2026 – Year of the Fiery Horse 🐎🔥

The Chinese Association of Victoria (CAV) proudly celebrated the Year of the Fiery Horse at China Bar Restaurant, Burwood on 6th February 2026.

The event was a tremendous success and was fully booked, welcoming a vibrant gathering of 180 members and guests who came together to celebrate culture, community, and tradition.

As we welcome the Year of the Horse, CAV President Shirley Teh shared her New Year message:

“On behalf of CAV, I extend my warmest New Year greetings and best wishes to everyone. May the year ahead bring you good health, prosperity, and joyful moments with your families and loved ones.

The Horse symbolises energy, perseverance, and forward momentum. As we step into this new year, may we continue to move forward with confidence, unity, and purpose — working hand in hand to build a stronger, more vibrant, and more connected Association.”

Thank you to all members, supporters, and friends who joined us in making this celebration truly memorable. We look forward to another exciting and prosperous year ahead together!

What a great evening reflecting the strength of our Multicultural Community and the deep connections we share across cultures and generations.
At the CAV Mid-Year dinner on 28 June 2025, we gather to reconnect with our Malaysian roots, celebrate our heritage, and pass on a legacy. We shine a light on the Peranakan community, a unique and colourful part of Southeast Asian culture, born of Chinese and Malay heritage.
The hall was beautifully decorated to reflect vibrant heritage. A heartfelt celebration of the rich tapestry that is Malaysian culture and the many CAV members of Malaysian heritage.
A heartfelt Thank You to those who came to support our Event last night.

It was an honour to have Foreign Minister Penny Wong visit the Chinese Association of Victoria on 17 April.

Among those in attendance was some Past President of CAV.

Minister Penny Wong had a game of table tennis with one of our young Members, Chole Yee.
