The first stop in our Tradies Toolbox Roadshow series has officially hit the road!
This week we visited Galen Catholic College as we kicked off our regional school roadshow, connecting young people with exciting career opportunities in the trades. Next up, we'll be at Wangaratta High School on 13 August, where we'll also be delivering a special Women in Trades session to encourage more young women to explore rewarding careers across the industry.
Through the Department of Education Victoria's School to Work Program, we're taking tradies, utes, trailers and an incredible team of education, training and industry partners directly into our regional schools. Together, we're helping build the future workforce by inspiring young people to pursue meaningful career pathways in the trades.
A huge thank you to the Lions Club of Wangaratta for cooking up a fantastic breakfast of bacon and egg rolls for the students, staff and tradies, a great way to start the day!
We're also incredibly grateful to our sponsors and supporters, Master Builders Victoria, who provided six lucky aspiring tradies with their very own pair of steel-cap work boots.
Our education and industry partners played a vital role throughout the morning:
π¨ GOTAFE staff showcased trade qualifications, School-Based Apprenticeships and VCE VM/VET Delivered to Secondary Students (VDSS) opportunities. Students also learned about the growing success of the WorldSkills competitions, where talented apprentices and trainees can test their skills on regional, national and even international stages.
π¨ AGA Into Work shared valuable advice on apprenticeships and traineeships, helping students understand the pathways into rewarding careers in our region's thriving trades sector.
We're also continuing to promote the 2026 Glenrowan Solar Farm $5,000 Scholarship, and sincerely thank them for their ongoing commitment to supporting local young people into trade careers.
This is just the beginning of our regional roadshow, and we're excited to continue connecting schools, industry and community to inspire the next generation of skilled tradespeople.
