We’re pleased to see ongoing attention on women’s experiences of pain and the importance of listening to women’s voices in healthcare.

Patients having an IUD insertion or removal at a sexual and reproductive health hub now have access to effective, cost-free pain relief.

As we shared with the Wangaratta Chronicle, pain relief matters, but so does being heard, believed and given real choices in care.

Thank you to the Wangaratta Chronicle for highlighting this important issue.

It’s a safe, fast and dignified pain management option available for free for IUD procedures

Last week, Women’s Health Goulburn North East attended a wellbeing day for women with cancer in Wangaratta.

The day brought women together to connect, learn and share experiences through sessions on topics including nutrition and pelvic health. Alongside valuable information and practical strategies, there were opportunities for gentle movement, creativity, and connection.

As part of our Community Minded project, we invited women to share what has supported their wellbeing during diagnosis and treatment, and what women with cancer in our region need more of. We heard about the importance of connection, access to services and practical help, and mental health support throughout the cancer journey.

A big thank you to Counterpart for organising such a thoughtful and welcoming event. It was a privilege to be part of the day and to hear from the women who generously shared their experiences with us.

This National Reconciliation Week, we’re reflecting on what it means to be All In for reconciliation.

Reconciliation is something we can all contribute to in our everyday lives, by listening to First Nations voices, learning more about local histories and cultures, supporting Aboriginal-led organisations and businesses, and speaking up against racism when we see it.

In our region, this also means working toward services and communities where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women feel safe, respected and heard.

Small actions matter. Ongoing commitment matters.
