We often think of courage as a heroic, explosive moment—a grand stage where someone steps up and changes the course of history. But sometimes the most profound courage is found in the quiet, everyday moments. It’s the raw and unpolished bravery of consistency. It’s the willingness to show up on the ordinary days, when the energy is low and the spotlight is nowhere to be found, and simply choose to do the work that is needed.

It’s easy to celebrate the finish line, but we often undervalue the grit it takes just to get to the starting line every single day. There are moments for all of us when the weight of life makes just stepping into the room feel like an uphill battle. It gets hard, the routine can feel empty of meaning, and the fatigue is real. But showing up is not the baseline—showing up is a victory to be celebrated.

Every quiet hour poured into your craft, every moment you choose to serve when you’d rather step back, is an act of courage. The bigger win isn’t found in a massive, sudden breakthrough; it’s found in the beautiful, stubborn decision to remain faithful to the process in the ordinary, everyday moments. Today, celebrate the resilience it takes to simply show up, wherever that may be for you. That is exactly where change is born.

At The Pantry WA, our focus is simple: putting Food, Grace, and Hope on the tables of local families doing it tough. But like so many households right now, we are feeling the squeeze.

We’ve just been notified that our annual rent is increasing by a substantial amount over the next 12 months.

It’s a significant hit to a grassroots charity, but we’re not backing down—the need in our community is simply too great. If you’ve been looking for a way to make a direct local impact, a little bit of community teamwork right now will go a very long way.

How you can support us today:

Join the 500 Club: A recurring gift of just $10 a month gives us the stable funding to absorb operational shocks like this.

Make a one-off donation: Every single dollar goes directly toward keeping our doors open and our hampers full. Please reference ’rent’ so we can allocate funds accordingly.

Spread the word: If you can’t give financially, sharing this post helps us reach businesses or partners who can.

The Pantry WA is a registered charity which means all financial donations are 100% tax-deductible.

We’ve faced tight spots before, and the generosity of our wider community always carries us through. Let's keep showing up for the families who need us most. For ways to give head to our website https://thepantrywa.com.au

What Is The 500 Club?

The 500 Club is a group of people who wholeheartedly believe in the work of The Pantry WA, and have made the commitment to ‘chip in’ $10 a month to help ensure that our hampers keep consistently going out the door!

It takes a community to help a community. As a self funded charity, the 500 Club is one way that we can raise consistent support to ensure our work continues strong, helping us show up for those doing it tough when it matters most.

Volunteer Spotlight: Susan

Meet Susan. We are incredibly lucky to have her energy and dedication here at The Pantry WA, but Susan’s impact reaches far beyond our doors. From stepping up with the Salvation Army’s Emergency Response Teams, to working on the ground in recovery units, Susan embodies the true spirit of service and volunteerism.

Volunteering isn’t about where you give your time; it’s about the collective ripple effect of showing up for one another. Whether it’s packing food boxes, responding to emergencies, or helping a neighbour, every hour makes our world a little brighter.

To Susan, and every volunteer out there giving their time to make a difference—thank you. You are the backbone of our communities.

We have been so encouraged by the response to our recent update about our record-low supplies. To everyone who has reached out asking how they can help bridge the gap: thank you! It means the world to us and the families we serve.

To make it as easy as possible, we’ve partnered with Dee’s Cafe and placed a dedicated drop-off bin for non-perishable goods just inside the Cafe. It will be available Monday - Friday from 6:30am - 2:30pm.

Whether it’s a single tin or a bag of staples, every donation is a huge blessing that goes directly toward restocking our shelves. A full list of items that would help us the most is listed below, take a screenshot for your next shop.

If you would like to host a drop off bin at your office, work place or business, please get in touch via email at [email protected] - we’d love to hear from you!

We’ve weathered many storms at The Pantry WA, but we are currently standing in our most challenging season yet.

The ripple effects of global conflict and the tightening Australian economy have hit our supply chain harder than ever before. For the first time in our history, we are facing a near-empty warehouse. It’s a sobering reality that has sent us out to local markets just to source basic staples like potatoes to keep things moving.

We believe in transparency with the community that makes us who we are and so we’re sharing this with you today. This is a difficult chapter, but it’s one we are navigating with everything we’ve got.

We are incredibly grateful to Malaga Church of Christ for their amazing food donation this week, it couldn't have come at a better time!

This has been the shortest week of food supplies we’ve experienced in a long time, but while our stocks were lower than usual, the generosity of Malaga Church of Christ means we can still provide hampers with a mix of essential dry goods and fresh vegetables for those in need.

Community helping community—that’s what it’s all about. Again, a massive thank you to the generous people at Malaga Church of Christ, you’re making a real difference!
