🚒 Total Fire Ban – Tomorrow 🔥🚫

A reminder to our community that tomorrow will be a Total Fire Ban Day.

On a Total Fire Ban, no fires are allowed in the open air. This includes burn-offs, campfires, fire pits, and the use of solid fuel BBQs. 🔥❌

Please make sure you:
• Do not light any fires in the open 🚫🔥
• Check that previous burn-offs are fully extinguished 💧
• Follow all fire restrictions for the day ⚠️

If you see smoke or an unattended fire, please call 000 immediately 📞🚨

These restrictions are in place to help keep our community safe during high fire danger conditions. Thank you for doing the right thing and helping protect our community. 🙏

I think we understand the meaning after yesterdays downpour

Wallan, traditionally known as Wallan Wallan, is an Aboriginal term from the Woi-wurrung language, generally interpreted to mean a "circular place of water" or "a circular piece of ground covered with rain water". It refers to the historical wetlands and swamps in the area.

It is a day to acknowledge that while these animals didn't choose to go to war, their contributions were often the difference between life and death for those on the front lines. By pausing to reflect, we remember the courage of these non-human veterans and the unique bond they shared with their handlers.

Calling local health, wellness & service practitioners 👋

We’re in the process of developing The Broadford Wellness Collective a new, purpose-built space designed to support local practitioners in a professional, collaborative environment.

Based on feedback from the community, we’re particularly interested in hearing from practitioners in areas such as:

• Naturopathy

• Counselling & mental health services

• Psychology

• Speech therapy

• Myotherapy

• Sports physiotherapy

• Skin specialists

• Beauty & advanced skin treatments

• Tattoo removal

• Other allied health or wellbeing services

If you’ve been thinking about moving into a commercial space, upgrading from a home-based setup, or working alongside other like-minded professionals this may be a great fit.

There’s no pressure or obligation at this stage. We’re simply starting conversations and shaping the space around the right mix of services for Broadford and surrounding areas.

Feel free to comment below, send me a message directly, or tag someone who might be interested.

For those wondering why there were so many fire trucks parked next to the Wallan Fire Station.

These were several strike teams which had been formed, just in case the Clarkefield fire continued to burn towards Beveridge and they were going to be utilised for asset protection.

Luckily, that didn’t eventuate and those trucks have now been released to return back to their respective brigade areas.
