The Two Day Group was founded by an ordinary mechanic with a vision that by enlisting some helpers, collectively we might introduce them to the practice of 'micro-philanthropy' the idea that sharing kindness with others is not only the privilege of the wealthy. The idea of The Two Day Group is that you are encouraged to set aside two dollars a day, let it accumulate and give it away anonymously an
d without judgement to a stranger. To involve younger members of your family, contributing as they feel comfortable from their pocket money, would influence them to think about others and may generate meaningful discussions. Everybody can experience the contentment, inner feelings of worthiness, often a childlike secret thrill of having an influence for good on other people. We can verify that there is nothing as rewarding as sitting in a Pizza shop eating quietly away having given money to the shop owner to pay for the next customer anonymously. If there's a frustrated Mother with a loaded trolly behind us at the checkout, just ask for 'cash out', tell the checkout girl to use the cash for the next in line and you will be halfway home before the fun starts! A lady we know has a bunch of ten-dollar notes in her car and always leaves one for the next in line at drive-through Maccas’. Many people of course are already helping folk in many ways and don't need us to point out the benefits that might flow into our own life as we have a bit of fun with The Two Day Group concept. Many have already discovered the reduction of stress and anxiety they experience when for a moment they lose themselves in the service of others. The folk who you have surprised will tell many others in the immediate future and for ever after, if the subject arises, the event will be relayed with enthusiasm. (No doubt with the 'normal' exaggeration'
We feel that it is important not to judge, we have had reactions from some who think they are receiving charity! Also, if we were to give money to a wealthy person (judging again) it may be argued that it was not a good idea, however that might just convince them to become more thoughtful of others. (Maybe even join our group!) We just distribute, the final effect is largely out of our hands. The Group has been operating for some time and we collect lists of the unique ways some participants have used to promote goodwill in their world. To be involved you may wish to inform us and if requested we will forward some cards (free of charge) to distribute if you think the occasion is suitable. There is no catch, we are just a group of interested folk who share a vision and who are excited about life and love the amazing stories that keep flooding in.
