We reflect on the year that was, we supported our Walcha, Uralla, Bundarra and Kentucky communities. Every Friday “lunch days” provided at the Hub, celebration days for Women’s Health Week, NAIDOC celebrations and Youth Week Festivities, Street stall festivities, hosting multiple free workshops to continue upskilling members of the community.
We had Community Corrections team join us fortnightly, Vinnies to support our Drug and Alcohol clients weekly, Services Australia to support with Centrelink needs and queries locally to save on travel which is a huge plus for our Walcha residents. Our quarterly Interagency meetings continued to grow and we continued to host those, with the goal to connect and introduce as many vital service partners to our loved community. We can’t forget our very much loved home cooked meals (which have always made a fun cooking day too) and our continuous support for those in need on a one-on-one basis to refer to other agencies. Food packages and were provided throughout the year to those in need.
Staff training was a priority to ensure our staff are equipped to help each and every individual the best possible way.
We are so thankful for recent support of The Walcha Business Community who generously supported our Christmas Raffle, which we sold in excess of 700 tickets. Our small centre became a network for families who need mediation and vital support to remain together and move forward, collectively.
Our friends at Armajun, Pathfinders, Centrecare and the Womens Shelter were frequent visitors aswell to connect with communities and individuals
While we are only open Mondays and Fridays in Walcha we sure “jam pack” a lot of community connections and individual supports into those days and are available via phone 5 days per week. We mean it when we say we take pride in what we do and feel confident in assisting individuals to get the correct support networks in place that they need.
We are really proud of the 2025 year for our Centre and look forward to 2026 working with our existing clients and wider community and see Walcha continue to thrive.g
