🌺 Walcha parkrun – Event #259 🌄

ANZAC Day | 25 April 2026
Lest we forget.

This morning, 39 legends ran, jogged, and walked their way around the Walcha course, taking a moment to reflect while doing what our community does best—showing up and supporting one another.

We welcomed 2 first timers to the parkrun family (great choice for your debut!) and celebrated 2 new Personal Bests—an incredible effort.
The event was made possible by 7 volunteers:

Mary MORAN • Nicole STACE • Margaret EDEN • Kimberley LISLE • Rex GREAM • Jess WILLIAMS • Sam MARTIN

Today's full results and a complete event history can be found on the Walcha parkrun Results Page.

Tomorrow is parkrun day. But more importantly, it’s ANZAC DAY and we’re operating to honour our service women and men who are currently serving and have served in the armed forces.

7:45am at the Whale on Hill Street for an 8am start.

Hope to see you all there.

What a turnout for Easter Saturday. Well done to all those who attended Today's event.
A big thankyou to the Easter Bunnies for making an appearance.

We had lots of people come along without their barcodes today. If that was you, just let us know your parkrun ID and we will add your name to the results.

Come and join us this weekend as Walcha Parkrun is hosts a parkrun Boomerang!

How It Works

A Boomeranger takes a Boomerang to their local community, sharing photos and stories on our Facebook group — anything from local history to a bit of humor.
The following week, they hand it over to another Boomeranger at a different parkrun, and the connections and journey continues as they make their way home to South Beach

Who Can Be a Boomeranger?

Anyone!
All you need is enthusiasm, a willingness to share photos of your Boomerang’s adventures, and plans to attend another parkrun the next Saturday.

Background

The Boomerang adventure began on June 15, 2024, at South Beach Recreation Reserve parkrun, where the original 10 Boomerangs (B1–B10) were launched.
To date, they’ve:

* Visited every parkrun country

* Attended over 800 parkruns and over 75 Junior parkruns

* “Met” over 200,000 parkrunners

* 9 of the original 10 have already made it home

Thanks to their popularity, another 10 Boomerangs (B11–B20) were released at Osterley parkrun on July 19, 2025.

Many Boomerangs have even earned names and personalities — from B8rtie and JB9 , R2B2 to DrB5 and our most precious DELLB6, named in memory of our friend Dell, who volunteered 206 times as barcode scanner.
They’ve “learnt” everything from cooking and yoga to surf lifesaving and karaoke — and many are now adorned with stickers and trinkets collected on their journey.
