Gluepot Reserve Birdlife Australia's Gluepot Reserve Welcome to Birdlife Australia's Gluepot Reserve!

Located in the semi-arid region of South Australia, this 50,000 ha large area of virgin mallee scrub contains no less than 18 nationally endangered bird species and a unique flora and fauna adapted to the harsh conditions. Its accessibility means it is one of the few areas in Australia where birdwatchers can relatively easily observe otherwise hard-to-find species.

Gluepot Reserve is open but Track 7 heading NE to Picnic Dam and Track 8 north of the Oil Line Road are temporarily closed. The Reserve is approx 64km from Waikerie Entry to Gluepot is only via Lunn Road (off the Goyder Highway)

The reserve has reopened. The section of track 8 between Picnic and Grasswren remains closed. Elsewhere, dried-out muddy sections are rough. Please navigate remaining wet and muddy sections with care. Track 2 west of Old Gluepot towards Bluebush has significant wash-outs.

With around 20 ml rain over the weekend the reserve is now closed. We will check the state of tracks today and post an update if there is any change.

Update on status of Gluepot internal roads: The only section now closed is track 8 between Picnic and Grasswren. Elsewhere, dried-out muddy sections are very rough. Navigate remaining wet and muddy sections with care. Track 2 west of Old Gluepot towards Bluebush has significant wash-outs.

There's a pair of Brown Falcons hanging around the Homestead dams. This one has recently caught dinner.

The tracks are gradually drying out, but there is still plenty of water for the water birds.

We are regularly checking our track bog holes and will keep you updated.
