After the week of a lifetime I’ve been home for almost 48hours enjoying rest, hot showers, my warm comfy bed and many dog snuggles!!!

There were definitely times of angst, fear, nerves and discomfort. However the fun, laughs, camaraderie and friendships definitely outweighed all that! I have slept in a swag for 6 nights, woken up to ice on the canvas, become one with dirt and dust EVERYWHERE, survived fewer showers and changes of clothes than usual, and actually enjoyed almost every moment. It was definitely worth it!!

To EVERYONE who contributed in any way, big or small, thank you! For those who donated, attended or helped at fundraisers, prayed, minded dogs, picked up cars etc etc etc. We couldn’t have done this without you. Shout out to BG8 - we had a blast!

And to my co driver, the other half of a completely opposite pair, thanks for coming on this wild ride with me!! You have put up with anxiety, melt downs, me cracking the whip, daily tie downs and a lot of gravel, pot holes and cattle grids. 4,000km later we’re still friends!!

We’re back in Wagga! All in one piece. For proof of life, and outback dust, The Black Pearl is on display beside Riverina Family Medicine (RFM) this morning. Thanks for all the support both $ and messages, all were appreciated. $17,232 raised by our team and $2.5million from the whole rally group!

What is the collective noun for a group of unicorns? We guessed it was a “figment” but apparently it is a “blessing” or a “marvel” It was Unicorn dress up day today. And it did start the day with some great humour and fun. Just as well, given a few challenges for our buddy group:

- Flapping mud flaps needing repair
- Exhausted exhaust pipes with more holes than Swiss cheese thanks to the rocks today
- Gear box connector rods snapping and needing roadside repair with fencing wire (the OddCouple car supplied the wire!)
- Roadside refueling with the roof top Jerry cans
- Some interesting maths, meaning we were literally running on fumes in multiple cars by the end of the day

All this with 540km of driving about 400km of that on unsealed roads.@@

Along with some fantastic blessings:
- Some amazing Wagga connections making connections with Louth people they know, then the publican who turned on the fuel pump to fill up some fuel containers for us to get us to our first fuel option tomorrow. Thank you all!
- Great team spirit, support and a little radio banter to get us through the late afternoon.
- Including the “what do you wish was for dinner chat” - pasta and bolognaise, a curry and lasagne where the top options.
- Finally the friendly and generous people of the community of Louth, with a permanent population of about 100 people who managed to feed more than 500 of us with - yep, you guessed it, lasagna, curry, pasta!! as well as the other option of roast meat and veg, plus the most amazing selection of home made deserts!!! Amazing!
- A big fire place and hospitality at the Shindy Inn for the inevitable post rally chats about the day.

Day 4- Definitely done and dusted!

Better late than never, here is the midway point health check on The Black Pearl!

Well, day 3 was a big day! And not much phone reception, hence the delayed post. Aramac to Toompine. More than 550km about 282km on some tricky dirt roads. Sone highlights!
- Quick pit stop at Barcaldine for a new radiator cap (not our car) and a catch up for Sheri with a high school friend Cara
- checking out the famous tree of knowledge there.
- A quick stop at Blackhall where we were thankful for the local Betta Electrical- new radio sorted! Phew!
- Adavale pub late in the day then more dirt…
- Late arrival and set up in dark for first time but we are experts now
- Dinner from our hosts at “The Pub with no Town” was amazing
- Then relaxing by the fire…punctuated by the “sack toss” (throwing bag into tyre) for the rights to be the first car to leave in the morning…a coveted position to avoid the line at the only petrol ⛽️ station of the day tomorrow morning.

Aaaand…Buddy Group 8 for the win!!! We are first off! A few photos below of the adventure of Day 3

Day 2 done and even more dusted!! Over 500km as lead car in our group today. All safe and sound, black Pearl going great, although she is now missing a passenger door handle. And for those who asked yes did them climb into the car via the window!! Enjoy.
