Brothers without borders!
At our December meeting, we were visited by a Brother from Chile. Brother Alexi is a friend of RW Bro. Priest. They've known each other for four years, exchanging ideas, articles and conversations across the Pacific Ocean. In the South Alexi spoke to us about being a member of two lodges. One operates under the Grand Lodge of Massachusetts in English, and the other operates under the Grand Lodge of Chile in Spanish.

Freemasonry is a worldwide organization that focuses on cultivating friendship and offering support. When Masons meet, they establish a bond that lasts a lifetime. Visiting a lodge during travel abroad is an excellent chance for a Freemason to connect with fellow members. No matter where a Mason travels, there will always be a lodge nearby.

There was no ritual work for the evening. However, after a long absence, we were happy to welcome back W Bro. Bates as a member. We were also visited by a group from Lodge Leeton-Yanco who we are always happy to see and a sitting Worshipful Master from South Australia, who is in town for work.

Our next ritual work will be on Tuesday 6th of February, to raise Bro. Boter to the sublime degree of a Master Mason.

Did you know it's International Civil Aviation Day?

With the Airport and RAAF base in Wagga, we have always had members with aviation backgrounds - civilian and ADF. Not just pilots but also airline staff and ground crew, couriers and security staff.
Freemasonry is a global organisation. It provides an amazing opportunity for people who travel for work to find stability and community. No matter where you go, there's always a lodge nearby.

Have you heard of the "Lodge of the Sky"?
Proposed by VW Bro Clive Lipscombe, a Mason and Aviator, this travelling lodge is a brilliant idea that aims to bring the aviation community together and spread awareness about Freemasonry.
Whether you're a pilot or not, as long as you have an interest in aviation and you're a Mason.

INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PEOPLE WITH DISABILITY
Freemasons have long been associated with raising funds for charities, including those who support people with a disability. However, not much is often said about Freemasons with a disability.
Disabilities usually don't limit one's ability to join or remain part of Freemasonry. Our inclusive community values diversity and welcomes individuals with disabilities.
I spoke with W Bro. David Brow - who is permanently disabled due to brain cancer and the necessary surgery to remove it. Being a Freemason has been very important to his recovery. His Brothers aided him in learning how to form thoughts, speak and walk again. Their charity when he needed aid after surgery meant he could focus on that recovery.
David said: “I was a freemason before my brain cancer removed my abilities, and I was quite a leader and prolific ritualist, this was all removed from me. Being a Freemason means having a world of brothers who accept me and allow me to do my best in a safe and comfortable space, without fear of judgement… Now, as the Worshipful Master of Lodge Wagga Wagga, I can show other Masons that if we’re disabled and we can't do some things the same way, that’s okay because we can do it better. I have visited other lodges all over Australia and 4 overseas. At all times my disability was accepted. Never have I met a truer bunch than my brothers.”

Have you ever wondered why the values and principles of Masonry are still relevant in today's fast-paced world?
Why does the ethos of Masonry matter in today's world as much as it always has?

In a time of individualism and constant change, the core values of Masonry provide a sense of belonging and stability. The principles of Masonry help our members to become better individuals in their communities and give them the power to impact the lives of countless individuals. These aspects, fully explored in the below article, are a wonderful incentive for those seeking to join a community that prioritizes personal development and making a positive impact on society.

Last Friday, Bro. Hingston was advanced to the degree of Mark Master Mason in Sturt United Royal Arch Chapter in Wagga.

Bro. Hingston added: "The ceremony was a good chance for me to see what my grandfather would have experienced over 70 years ago. The group of blokes at the Royal Arch Lodge were really welcoming. I can't wait to go to more meetings."

On Friday our Worshipful Master and Deacons visited Lodge Leeton Yanco to watch a third degree.
The newly raised brother was initiated 9 years ago in Moree, so members of the Lodge in Moree including his original mentors managed to drive 750kms to attend and support.
📣If you’re a Freemason who hasn’t attended a lodge in a while, make contact! We would all be so happy to have you back! 📣

Some photos from last night's South.
The work for last night was to pass Brother Vito to the second degree. He was a fantastic candidate and could prompt at one point during a pause. Very impressive work.
We were visited by several Brethren, including Neville Wiggins, a Grand Lodge Membership Officer from over the border in Victoria and two sitting Masters from South Australian lodges.

Due to an unfortunate SD card issue, we sadly have no group photo from last night's meeting. Unfortunately, all the good photos that were taken last night by Bro. Boter were lost. We'll try again next time!
