VALE - James 'Jim' Simpson
Our thoughts are with Jim's family, friends and RFS Community.

❤️ Celebrating James 'Jim' Simpson — A Lifetime of Service ❤️

Sadly Jim, Lake Albert Bushfire Brigade's president, mentor and friend has passed away.

We are sure he was met at the gates of heaven with love and honour.

Some people become part of a community. Others help shape it. This is Jim.

For more than 70 years, Jim Simpson gave his time, energy and heart to the Lake Albert community and the Lake Albert Bushfire Brigade.

Jim joined the brigade in 1953, following in the footsteps of his father and grandfather. What began as a commitment to his community became a remarkable lifetime of service.

His contribution has gone far beyond attending fires. Jim has helped build the brigade itself, including being involved in securing the land and helping with the design and construction of the current station. He has supported the acquisition of firefighting appliances, trained and mentored generations of RFS members.

In recognition of his extraordinary contribution, Jim was awarded the Australian Fire Service Medal in 2019. In 2023, he reached an incredible 70 years of service with the NSW Rural Fire Service.

But perhaps what says the most about Jim is what he has always believed in — mateship, teamwork and helping your neighbour.

Jim will be remembered by members of our Brigade as a down to earth, honest, a kind friend and mentor. Always ready for a chat and to share his words of wisdom.
Lake Albert Bushfire Brigade will be forever grateful to Jim, for helping to create and maintain the Brigade community we have.

Thank you, Jim. Thank you for the fires fought, the people helped, the knowledge shared, the friendships made and the generations of volunteers you've inspired.

In the words from Jim himself,
which we hope today are more true than ever before.

"It has been a very rewarding life"

We would like to extend a massive thank you to Essential Energy for making this possible for our squad. If the power goes out, we still need to open the doors, charge our gear, communicate with crews and get vehicles on the road. This project helps make sure we can keep responding when the community is relying on us.
Essential Energy understands how important resilience is during emergencies, and we are grateful for their support which is helping us strengthen our ability to respond when the community needs us most. The savings we will make will allow us to direct funds back into rescue equipment to assist the community.

VALE Tony Hare
24.06.1959 – 03.06.2026
It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of our mate and former Wagga VRA member, Tony Hare.
"Harey", mate, mentor, and true Aussie larrikin. He never shied away from telling it as it was. Tony called a spade a spade, and often, one look was enough to tell you exactly what he was thinking.
His willingness to share his knowledge, experience, and wisdom left a lasting impact on those fortunate enough to work alongside him. Whether on a job, around the squad, or sharing a story and a laugh, Tony's presence was always felt, and his company always valued.
Tony will be remembered for his honesty, loyalty, sense of humour, and unwavering commitment to his mates. He leaves behind many fond memories and a legacy that will not be forgotten.
Our thoughts are with Tony's family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched.
Rest easy, Harey. Your shift is over, mate. We have it from here. 💚
Please share your memories with us for his friends and family, and please add any photos you have.
Funeral arrangements will be advised once finalised.
