STATEMENT FROM THE MEN’S CONSULTATION GROUP

The Wagga Women’s Health Centre's Men’s Consultation Group is calling for men to recognise their responsibility to challenge the attitudes and behaviours that enable violence against women.

Established by the Women's Health Centre in 2024, the Men's Consultation group brings together male leaders from across Wagga Wagga to engage men in preventing domestic and family violence. This year, its members have helped guide and deliver the Men as Allies project.

Men’s violence against women is preventable. Men must be part of the solution.

We have been rocked by the tragic death of a 23 year old woman here in Wagga on Saturday. This was just one of three separate incidents in NSW over the weekend that resulted in the death of a woman.

Join us on Thursday evening as we pause to remember these lives lost and stand together to say violence of any kind is not acceptable in our community.

Moments from the NO MORE Round 🧡⚽

It was fantastic to see so many local players, clubs and supporters linking arms and getting behind the message that domestic and family violence has no place in our community. Congratulations to the Football Wagga Community!!

The round may be over, but the work continues. Through the DV2650 Network, we can support local clubs and organisations with practical training and the development and implementation of a Domestic Violence Action Plan.

We’re still reflecting on the passion, commitment and energy in the room at our Safer Clubs Workshop a few weeks ago. 🧡⚽

Hosted by Rob from NO MORE and the Wagga Women's Health Centre, the workshop brought together representatives from local sporting clubs to explore the important role sport can play in preventing domestic and family violence. Clubs were given practical ideas, tools and support to begin developing their own Domestic Violence Action Plans and creating safer, more respectful sporting communities.

Thank you to everyone who attended, contributed and showed their commitment to making change in Wagga Wagga.

The Safer Clubs Workshop is happening this Thursday night—and there’s still time to register.

Open to players, coaches, committee members, volunteers and supporters from all sporting codes, this practical workshop will explore how clubs can help create safer, more respectful and inclusive communities.

Football Wagga Clubs must have at least one representative attend the workshop to be eligible to win $1,200 worth of Deploy soccer balls during the NO MORE Round on the weekend.
