Share the Dignity

Share the Dignity Period products should be a right, not a privilege. We're working to achieve menstrual equity in Australia by 2031.

Share the Dignity works to make a real, on-the-ground difference in the lives of women, girls and those who menstruate who are experiencing homelessness, fleeing domestic violence or doing it tough. We distribute period products to those in need and work to end period poverty here in Australia. When someone is doing it tough, the last thing on their mind should be dealing with their period. We are

proud to partner with over 3,000 charities nationally, helping them to assist the women, girls and those who menstruate who desperately need access to period products. This is achieved through our Dignity Drives and Dignity Vending Machines. We also distribute the gift of a bag for those in need at Christmas time through our annual It’s in the Bag campaign.

Nindilingarri Cultural Health Services supports over 150 clients each month across the Fitzroy Valley, from Noonkanbah in the west to Yiyili in the east, Yiramalay in the north and Djugerari in the south.

As the only NACCHO and Cultural Health Service in the region, their support is vital.

But right now, we need your help to keep their Dignity Vending Machine, and 129 others like it, stocked with essential period products.

For many women and young girls in the community, this machine provides a private, safe way to access pads and tampons when they need them most. It also helps remove the financial barrier to period care, especially with the rising cost of living, where so many are putting their families first and their own needs last.

👉 Please make a tax-deductible donation today to help stock Dignity Vending Machines in communities like Nindilingarri across Australia: www.sharethedignity.org.au/26taxfb7

The world can be gloomy and sometimes, you might not feel like your best self. And that's okay!

How beautiful would it be if we said to people we loved, "I am not feeling like my best self today, can you remind me of who I am?" and that person said a few reasons why they appreciate you, for you.

So let's share that love! Tag someone in your life and remind them why they are loved 🩷

Periods should never be a barrier to feeling supported in sport 💗

Our new research, co-launched with Victoria University, Melbourne Australia last weekend, found that when it came to education:

🩸 61% of respondents were unsure whether staff would be supportive when discussing their period needs
🩸 52% want more education about the menstrual cycle and its potential effects when participating in sport with a disability

These findings show just how important education, open conversations and inclusive support systems are in creating safe sporting environments for everyone.

That’s why, alongside our new report, we’ve launched first-of-their-kind educational resources to help clubs, coaches and participants better understand the intersection of periods, disability and sport.

Because everyone deserves to feel informed, supported and included.

Did you see we’ve launched our new long-term goal? 💗

We’re working towards menstrual equity in Australia by 2031.

That means a future where period products are easy to access, no one is held back by their period, and menstruation is no longer surrounded by stigma.

It’s an ambitious goal, but one grounded in practical action, evidence and long-term change.

If you haven’t had a chance to read more about what this means and where we’re headed, our website article is now live: https://www.sharethedignity.org.au/blog/working-to-achieve-menstrual-equity-in-australia-by-2031

For people with disability, periods can be a major barrier to participating in sport.

Our new research, co-launched with Victoria University, Melbourne Australia this week, found that among people with disability who don’t currently play sport:

🩸 87% would worry about leaking while playing sport during their period
🩸 78% would feel anxious about having their period whilst playing sport

No one should miss out on movement, connection and community because of stigma, anxiety or lack of support.

That’s why we’re calling for better education, more inclusive environments and improved access to period products in sport 💗

Happy World Environment Day 🌳♻️

At Share the Dignity, we believe dignity and sustainability can go hand in hand. As part of our growing ESG commitments, we're exploring ways to reduce waste and support informed choices, including increasing awareness of reusable period products and the role they can play in reducing environmental impact.

Not only are they eco-friendly, reusable period products can provide someone with the peace of mind to manage their period for years to come. Period un**es and menstrual discs can last up to 5 years, and some menstrual cups can even last up to 10! That’s years of comfort, confidence, and dignity.

Much like a carbon footprint, the more we use reusable period products, the more we can reduce our 'period footprint'.

If you are interested in learning more about reusable period products, head to our Education Hub at: https://www.sharethedignity.org.au/end-period-poverty/period-education-hub

"Australia is a sporting nation, we’re all about a fair go, and I think everyone can agree in 2026 no person should be missing out on the joy and community of sport because they don’t have access to period products, including people with disabilities."

Thank you to Freedom 2 Live for spotlighting our world-first Period & Disability report, in collaboration with Victoria University, Melbourne Australia, helping to highlight the need for more inclusive, informed sporting spaces across Australia ❤️

The research shines a light on persistent barriers across access, education, facilities and support - areas that continue to limit inclusion in sporting environments.

It’s a timely reminder that meaningful progress in menstrual equity means ensuring no one is left out of the conversation or the solution 🙌

How does a ‘tax‑deductible’ donation work when you give to Share the Dignity?

When you give $2 or more to Share the Dignity, your donation is tax‑deductible because we’re an endorsed Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR). That means your gift can help a woman or family in crisis and might just sweeten your tax refund at the same time.

What “tax‑deductible” really means:
Your donation is subtracted from your taxable income, so you’re taxed on a little less while doing a lot of good. It’s like the ATO making a little space for your kindness.

How you claim it:
Keep your receipt (email confirmation).
Add up all your donations to Share the Dignity and other charities, then enter the total in the “Gifts or donations” section of your tax return.

Then, when your refund arrives, you can smile knowing it helped fill a Dignity Vending Machine for someone who really, really needed it.
