Victorian Natives

Victorian Natives To survey threatened species and native wildlife in Victoria, we set up several ponds with motion sensing cameras. now we want to share the results.

We own a lovely 148 hectare (350 acre) property north of Violet Town in north eastern Victoria. Two families joined forces and bought the property because it had a great diversity of native species. Even though some work had started there was a great deal of important work that needed to be done, this included dealing with rabbits, weeds and foxes which were there in high numbers and increasing. W

e felt frustrated because our visits were taken up with doing all this work, which we found very fulfilling but we could not make the time to survey the threatened species and to learn more about our native wildlife. We decided to try putting out a few small ponds with motion sensing cameras on them and we were very excited by the results. It has now been over a year and we have videos of 91 different species of native birds, 6 species of native reptiles and 15 species of mammals. This story will be on our website: http://www.victoriannativeseed.com.au
