Today, on National Sorry Day, we pause to acknowledge the deep and lasting impact of the Stolen Generations — Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children who were forcibly removed from their families and communities. We honour the strength, resilience, and courage of these children, their families, and descendants, and we recognise that healing is an ongoing journey — one that requires truth-telling, compassion, and collective responsibility.
We reflect on the strength and resilience of all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people affected by, or who were part of, the Stolen Generations and acknowledge that the healing process is forever ongoing. We acknowledge that we can’t change the past for these children and their families, but we can change the future.
At Karitane, we continue building respectful relationships with First Nations communities and families. We are committed to walking alongside communities, ensuring their lived experience, past and present, guides our service delivery and supports offered. We will continue to listen, advocate, be responsive to, and support all First Nations people, ensuring we provide culturally safe, meaningful, and accessible parenting support services.
