Baden Powell Lodge #350 W.A.C

Baden Powell Lodge #350 W.A.C Baden Powell Lodge is a Freemason lodge for all, if you have an interest in the scouting movement or not.

The history of a Baden Powell Lodge in Western Australia
The inspiration to give form to a Baden Powell Lodge in Western Australia came from a formal Masonic dinner attended by adult scout leaders who were gathered together in Perth for the 12th Australian Scout Jamboree held at Perry Lakes in 1980. BP Lodges were already operating in other states of Australia and New Zealand. It took a further 4

years before a scout-based lodge was to become a reality in Western Australia. The Lodge, sponsored by The Lodge of Goodwill No. 271 was consecrated in the Freemasons Hall; Terrace Road, Perth on Saturday 25 February 1984 with the Grand Master Most Worshipful Brother Keith Simpson officiating at the ceremony. The District Grand Lodge of Western Australia under the Grand Lodge of Scotland in the person of Brother Fred Sweeney, Right Worshipful District Grand Master was also present (and was honoured for his contribution to this Lodge with Honorary Membership in July 2011 and has since, passed to the Grand Lodge above in October 2012). The Foundation Worshipful Master, Worshipful Brother William Maggs PDGP was installed by the Deputy Grand Master R.W.Bro George Shea OBE, witnessed by 29 foundation members and a great number of Masonic visitors; Foundation members were each issued with an inscribed Foundation Medal. The first meeting of the Lodge was held the following month on Thursday 19th March 1984 in Cannington with the District Grand Inspector of Workings V.W.Bro Malcolm Hyde present and representing Grand Lodge. The Lodge relocated to the Masonic Hall in Victoria Park in March 1986 where it meets to this day; and will be celebrating its 30th year in February 2014”.

An empty desk. A quiet room. A powerful symbol marking the closure of Baden Powell Lodge WAC350.

After 40 meaningful years of fellowship, service, and brotherhood, we have handed back our warrant. This simple image speaks volumes — a respectful farewell to the space that held our shared memories and traditions.

Though the lodge closes, the spirit of Baden Powell lives on in the hearts of all who were part of its journey.

Thank you for walking this path with us.

Once again, we would like to proudly introduce our remaining foundation members to those who may not be familiar. They are WBro Chris Denny, WBro Kelly Howe and VWBro Leslie Nicholls — the founding members of Baden Powell Lodge, established in 1984. Their dedication and presence continue to inspire us, and we are honoured to have them as part of our lodge’s legacy.

It was a deeply emotional moment to hand back our warrant to the Grand Lodge of Western Australia. From our very first Worshipful Master WBro William E Maggs (1984) to the last Worshipful Master WBro Dennis Barker (2025), the warrant has been faithfully safeguarded — passed down unsullied and without fail. It stands as a proud symbol of our lodge’s integrity, commitment, and enduring legacy.
