We share the concerns of our Brollie Brigade mobile showers project and those of the other mobile service providers @ Moore St that provide essential services 6 days a week for those without a secure roof over their heads or without enough in their pensions to get by without supplemental support.

With the start of demolition and construction for the new and welcome RPH Emergency Department due to start within weeks, hundreds of people each night and twice that on Sundays are at risk of missing out on support that they have been able to depend on for years to help them bridge the day to day gaps.

Thank you The Last Place on Earth for highlighting this debacle.

One of those rare times when our VPH Christmas Season Appeal & Brollie Brigade mobile showers projects get to work together side by side 😎

St Mary's Outreach Service is putting on some Christmas 🎄at their regular Monday night meal 🍽 at Victoria Park Community Centre and VPH Christmas Season Appeal still had some gifts and presents to spare to support our local outreach. Thanks for picking up Veronika.

Our sister project Brollie Brigade mobile showers will be there as always along with Orange Sky Australia crew. Showers from 5:30pm, laundry from 5:45pm and dinner from 6:30pm

A big shout out of thanks to the good people from StreetSmart Australia. They mobilise local cafes and customers to assist and support community members who are struggling through its Cafe Smart program.

Our Brollie Brigade mobile showers project is one of the many grateful recipient amongst the Perth service organisations that have received a grant supported by the many local Perth cafes and customers that participate in the Cafe Smart network.

How good. Our thanks to all that make this community generousity possible.

First day out and winter warmth arriving!

WA's Keeping or Getting a roof over everyone's head crisis. It's even worse than we've experienced or feared.

Thanks Tim Clifford MLC for making the housing and homelessness horrors, detailed by the June 2025 Housing Affordability in WA report, easily accessible.

Our current challenge? Find (and fund) a home 🏠. We invite and welcome your thoughts.

We've met every challenge we've faced so far.
✔️ Build a volunteer community-based mobile hygiene service
✔️ Create an interim service when truck taken away by eastern owners
✔️ Mobilise a WA family of supporters and sponsors
✔️ Build a bespoke WA-owned shower truck
✔️ Re-establish and expand our hygiene services

Now we need a place to call home. We can't operate as efficiently and securely as we want and need, when our gear is constantly shifted and stored across a number of our personal places or on vacant lots. We're after:

▶ 110-120 sqm metres
▶ Central Perth metro as we roam from Joondalup to Armadale
▶ Secure storage for truck, van, trailer, equipment and towel laundry
▶ Space for sorting and distributing lots of clothing, furniture and other donations
▶ Space for our growing annual VPH Christmas Season Appeal, a sister program of Umbrellas & Footprints.

We're sharers by nature so would also be happy to explore any co-location options!

Our days aren't just about the colourful stuff like our shower service and holiday appeal projects and refuge support.

Most days, behind the scenes, we're doing bag pickups for use by emergency food services, sorting and delivery clothing and furniture donations and inspecting houses and trying to sort cleanouts so that families can become whole again.

The numbers are in and what an extraordinary community-driven effort in 2024! 🎄🎄

The estimated value of toys, gifts, gift cards, grocery vouchers and dry hampers that were generously donated by all of you is $30,000! 🎀🎁

Together, we were able to fulfill or substantially fulfil the requests we received to spread and share some cheer with the children and families in the care of, sheltered or supported by seven organisations.

Thank you all for trusting us to be the conduit to get your contributions from your hands into the hands of those who would otherwise have gone without, left watching from the sidelines over the holiday season.

Our community's support for the VPH Christmas Season Appeal makes support for refuges like Nardine Wimmins Refuge possible.

Umbrellas & Footprints generally, and our holiday appeal project, have worked with Nardine, located in the Vic Park area of Perth, for a number of years. We see their ongoing challenges, yet we were still surprised this year by the increase in the need for shelter and particularly the jump in numbers of people and families still in the community who are supported by FDV outreach because no spaces are available in the refuge.

The story was the same for Orana House and Wooree Miya, two other refuges and FDV outreach networks that your gifts and donations assisted this year.

Linda, the CEO of Nardine's parent organisation, Midland Women's Health Care Place , recently described the challenges they face and their efforts to improve their capacity to help those that need it most.
