We’re looking for loving homes across the Sunshine Coast to become Smart Pups foster carers on weekends and holidays! Who wouldn't want a pup for a weekend?!

These adorable pups are in training to become life-changing assistance dogs for children with special needs, and YOU could be part of their journey and help make a real difference 🐾

Smart Pup Gee Gee has had a fantastic month of social outings as she continues building confidence, focus, and resilience in a variety of environments 🐾✨

Throughout the month, Gee Gee has visited both familiar and new locations, helping her strengthen her ability to remain calm and attentive in different surroundings. 💛

A major highlight for Gee Gee was attending the Smart Pups The Paddo event in Brisbane, where she gained valuable exposure to busy, high-energy environments, crowded walkways, and increased public interaction. Guests were invited to interact with the dogs while they were working, giving Gee Gee the opportunity to practise maintaining focus while receiving attention and staying connected to her handler in highly stimulating situations.

Gee Gee handled the event beautifully, remaining calm, attentive, and focused throughout the entire experience. We’re so proud of the progress this clever girl continues to make.

Congratulations Smart Pup Bella on placement! 🐾💙

Smart Pup Bella has officially been placed with her young boy in Queensland as an Autism Assistance Dog.

Throughout placement, Bella and her boy spent time building a beautiful bond while getting to know the places they’ll experience together every day including the shops, school runs, and walks around their local lake. 💛

Bella will provide companionship, comfort, and support with emotional regulation, while also helping to keep her boy safe in public. Her loving and gentle nature makes her the perfect companion for the journey ahead.

We are so proud of Bella and can’t wait to see the difference this special partnership will make. ✨🐾

Introducing Smart Pup Luna 🐾✨

Luna has already been busy exploring the world around her as she begins her exciting training journey. From visits to the vet to outings at Coles, Peregian Beach, and Eumundi, Luna has been gaining valuable exposure to many different environments, sounds, smells, and everyday experiences. 💛

Each new adventure helps build Luna’s confidence, resilience, and social skills as she continues learning the foundations of becoming a future assistance dog. We can’t wait to watch this beautiful girl grow and thrive on her journey ahead.

Di was presented with a special award by Ted O'Brien at the Fairfax Volunteer Awards, recognising her incredible dedication as an avid volunteer with Smart Pups.

It was a beautiful reminder that it truly takes a village to raise and train an assistance dog. From volunteers opening their homes, showing up day after day, reinforcing training, and giving their time with patience and care, every single person plays a vital role in helping these dogs grow into life-changing companions.

As shared at the event, “It was wonderful to come together to recognise and celebrate the incredible contribution volunteers make to our community. We sincerely appreciate your attendance, and thank you for your continued dedication, generosity, and support. The impact of your volunteer work is truly valued and appreciated.”

Congratulations to Smart Pup Lacey on her Graduation! 🎓🐾

Smart Pup Lacey is a bright, loving and playful girl who has successfully completed her training as an Autism Assistance Dog.✨

Lacey has been carefully trained in important support tasks including laps/overs, tethering, and boop, all designed to provide comfort, reassurance, and support in everyday life. She is especially excited to show off all of her fun tricks to her young girl in Victoria, who she will soon support on life’s journey together.

For a child navigating the challenges of autism, Lacey will bring calm companionship, confidence, and a trusted presence by her side through new experiences and daily adventures.

At Smart Pups, every assistance dog is professionally trained to create meaningful change in the lives of the children they support. Watching Lacey graduate is a beautiful reminder of the impact these incredible dogs make, one paw at a time. 💙🐾

Throughout placement week, Nix and her girl spent precious time getting to know each other, building a beautiful bond, and already growing into the very best of friends. 💛 From quiet moments together to exciting new adventures ahead, the pair are already creating a truly special connection.
